Armed Forces Command And Staff College, Jaji
The Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji is a training facility for the Nigerian Armed Forces, including the army, air force and navy. It is near the village of Jaji, Nigeria, about northeast of Kaduna in the Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, Nigeria. It is currently headed by Air Vice Marshal OA TUWASE. History The Armed Forces Command and Staff College opened at Jaji in May 1976, giving two senior officers' courses. In April 1978, the college was expanded when the Army Junior Division was established to conduct courses for Captains in the Nigerian Army. A Demonstration Battalion, the Army School of Artillery, and armor support from a composite armored battalion in Kaduna were also located at Jaji. In September 1978, with the opening of the air faculty, Jaji was redesignated the Command and Staff College. Staff College
Staff colleges (also command and staff colleges and War colleges) train military officers in the administrative, military staff and policy aspects of their profession. It is usual for such training to occur at several levels in a career. For example, an officer may be sent to various staff courses: as a captain they may be sent to a single service command and staff school to prepare for company command and equivalent staff posts; as a major to a single or joint service college to prepare for battalion command and equivalent staff posts; and as a colonel or brigadier to a higher staff college to prepare for brigade and division command and equivalent postings. Emmanuel A. Acholonu is a retired Commodore in the Nigerian Navy and the former Administrator of Katsina State in Nigeria from December 1993 to August 1996 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) is the military head and highest ranking military officer of the Nigerian Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff is usually the highest ranking and most senior admiral to serve in the Nigerian Armed Forces unless the Chief of the Defence Staff is a naval officer. Dele Joseph Ezeoba (born 25 July 1958) is a retired vice admiral in the Nigerian Navy who was the 20th Chief of Naval Staff. Prior to that appointment he served as the Deputy Commandant Officer the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Nigeria. Dan Patrick Archibong (4 October 1943 – 11 March 1990) was a Nigerian soldier who was Military Governor of Cross River State from January 1984 until 1986. Archibong was admitted to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna in January 1964. He did not complete the course with his original class because of the crisis of 1966. He returned to the NDA after the war and was commissioned in August 1970, with loss of seniority. Abdulmumini Aminu (born 1949) is a retired Nigerian army colonel, he was military governor of Borno State between August 1985 and August 1988 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. He later became chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, and then chairman of the West Africa Football Union.
