Armagh–Tyrone Gaelic Football Rivalry
The Armagh-Tyrone rivalry is a Gaelic football rivalry between Irish county teams Armagh and Tyrone, who first played each other in 1890. It is considered to be one of the biggest rivalries in Gaelic games. Armagh's home ground is the Athletic Grounds and Tyrone's home ground is Healy Park. 1951 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1951 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 65th staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. Mayo won their second All-Ireland in a row. The Curse of '51 Mayo have not won an All-Ireland football final since 1951. Legend has it that a priest became furious when the Mayo team bus returning home from the 1951 final passed by a funeral without showing respect as they celebrated their All-Ireland win. The priest supposedly put a curse on Mayo, that they would not win another title until all of the team had died. Since the deaths of Pádraig Carney in 2019 and Paddy Prendergast in 2021, only one member of the 1951 team remain living – Mick Loftus, though he was a sub and did not play on the day. Prendergast, who was the final surviving member of the team and played at full-back, died at the age of 95 on 26 September 2021. Dungannon Thomas Clarkes GAC
Dungannon Thomas Clarkes (in Irish 'Dún Geanainn Thomáis Uí Cleirigh') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Dungannon in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. They play at O'Neill Park in Dungannon, which is also the second home of Tyrone G.A.A. The club has won 11 Senior Football Championships and 4 Intermediate Football Championships. History Dungannon Thomas Clarkes GFC (Cumann Thomáis Uí Chléirigh Dún Geanainn) was formed in 1917 and is named after one of the executed leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising, Thomas J Clarke, who spent his formative years living in Dungannon. The club colours are green, white and yellow. O'Neill Park has been the home of the Clarkes since 1947. 1920 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1920 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 34th staging of Ireland's premier Gaelic football knock-out competition. In the Leinster final Dublin ended Kildare's period as All Ireland champions. The championship was disrupted by the ongoing Irish War of Independence, including the events of Bloody Sunday in November 1920, when British forces killed fourteen people at a match between Dublin and Tipperary at Croke Park in Dublin. Because Dublin and Tipperary were the eventual finalists, it is often incorrectly assumed that this was the All-Ireland final, but it was actually a challenge match held to raise funds for the Republican Prisoners Dependents Fund. In fact, Tipperary did not play their semi-final match until 1922, 19 months after Dublin won the first semi-final. The Final was played in June 1922.
