''Armageddons'' is a themed anthology of science fiction short works edited by American writers Jack Dann and Gardner Dozois. It was first published in paperback by Ace Books in November 1999. It was reissued as an ebook by Baen Books in March 2013. The book collects twelve novelettes and short stories by various science fiction authors. Jack Dann
Jack Dann (born February 15, 1945) is an American writer best known for his science fiction, an editor and a writing teacher, who has lived in Australia since 1994. He has published over seventy books, in the majority of cases as editor or co-editor of story anthologies in the science fiction, fantasy and horror genres. He has published nine novels, numerous shorter works of fiction, essays and poetry and his books have been translated into thirteen languages. His work, which includes fiction in the science fiction, fantasy, horror, magical realism and historical and alternative history genres, has been compared to Jorge Luis Borges, Roald Dahl, Lewis Carroll, J. Gardner Dozois
Gardner Raymond Dozois ( ; July 23, 1947 – May 27, 2018) was an American people, American science fiction author and editing, editor. He was the founding editor of ''The Year's Best Science Fiction'' anthologies (1984–2018) and was editor of ''Asimov's Science Fiction'' magazine (1986–2004), garnering multiple Hugo Award, Hugo and Locus Awards for those works almost every year. He also won the Nebula Award for Best Short Story twice. He was inducted to the EMP Museum#Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Science Fiction Hall of Fame on June 25, 2011. Biography Dozois was born July 23, 1947, in Salem, Massachusetts. He graduated from Salem High School (Massachusetts), Salem High School with the Class of 1965. Jack Dann And Gardner Dozois Ace Anthology Series
Jack Dann and Gardner Dozois have jointly edited a series of themed science fiction and fantasy anthologies, mostly published by Ace Books (a few were issued by other publishers). Because most of the earlier volumes had one-word titles followed by an exclamation mark, it has also been known as "The Exclamatory series." The series began in 1980 with ''Aliens!'', issued by Pocket Books. Ace took over publication with ''Unicorns!'', the second volume, in 1982. Under Ace, most volumes of the series were originally themed around a certain type of "magic" entities, with science fiction-oriented volumes being the exception. Hence, it was known as the "Magic Tales Anthology Series" until 1995. The "magic" guideline was abandoned in 1996 when the series switched its focus to more strictly science fiction themes, beginning with ''Hackers''. A WikiProject, or Wikiproject, is a Wikimedia movement affinity group for contributors with shared goals. WikiProjects are prevalent within the largest wiki, Wikipedia, and exist to varying degrees within sister projects such as Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikidata, and Wikisource. Howard Waldrop
Howard Waldrop (born September 15, 1946) is a science fiction author who works primarily in short fiction. He received the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2021. Personal life Though born in Houston, Mississippi, Waldrop has spent most of his life in Texas. He moved to Washington state for several years, but has since returned to Austin. He is an avid fly fisherman. He is a member of the Turkey City Writer's Workshop, has attended the Rio Hondo Writing Workshop, and has taught at the Clarion Workshop. Professional life He is a frequent attendee of ArmadilloCon, the local science fiction convention held annually in Austin. William Barton (writer)
William Renald Barton III (born September 28, 1950) is an American science fiction writer. In addition to his standalone novels, he is also known for collaborations with Michael Capobianco. Many of their novels deal with themes such as the Cold War, space travel, and space opera. Barton also has written short stories that put an emphasis on sexuality and human morality in otherwise traditional science fiction. His short fiction has appeared in ''Asimov's'' and '' Sci Fiction'', and has been nominated for the Hugo Award, the Theodore Sturgeon Award, the Sidewise Award, and the HOMer Award, and three of his novels (''The Transmigration of Souls'', ''Acts of Conscience'', and ''When We Were Real'') were finalists for the Philip K.
