Arm River-Watrous
Arm River-Watrous was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. This constituency was located in south central Saskatchewan. It was dissolved as part of an election boundary redraw in 2013 primarily into Arm River. Grain farming and cattle ranching are the major economic activities of the area. Wynyard is home to the larger industries in this constituency. They include: Sunnyland Poultry Products, Big Quill Resources (Canada's largest manufacturer of potassium sulphate), and Cargill. Watrous is well known for the healing waters of Little Manitou Lake and its Mineral Spa. This resort community there, Manitou Beach, hosts visitors from around the world. Blackstrap Provincial Park is also located in this constituency. The three largest communities are Wynyard with a population of 1,919, Watrous with a population of 1,808 and Davidson (1,035). Etters Beach ( 2016 population: 30) is a resort village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within Census Division No. 11. It is on the west shore of Last Mountain Lake in the Rural Municipality of Big Arm No. 251. History Etters Beach incorporated as a resort village on October 1, 1965. Young ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Morris No. 312. The economy is dominated by local agriculture and the nearby Mosaic Potash mine. History Young came into being with the coming of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. Young incorporated as a village on June 7, 1910. It was named for F.G. Young, a land agent. A limestone kiln producing 1000 bushels of lime a day was established in the town at the northwest end of 2 Avenue. It has a 3 sheet curling rink with artificial ice and hockey arena, a swimming pool, golf course, ball diamonds and playground. Strongfield ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Loreburn No. 254 and Census Division No. 11. It lies approximately 100 km south of the City of Saskatoon on Highway 19 between its sister communities of Hawarden and Loreburn. Strongfield was once a booming village with an elementary school, post office, car and farm equipment dealerships, two Saskatchewan Wheat Pool grain elevators, small restaurants and other shops. Today the school no longer exists and most of the businesses have long been closed down. Simpson ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Wood Creek No. 281 and Census Division No. 11. Semans ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Mount Hope No. 279 and Census Division No. 10. The village is located approximately 125 km north of the City of Regina and 195 km southeast of the City of Saskatoon. History Settlers first homesteaded in the Semans area as early as 1904. Semans, named for the wife of a railroad official, was one in the alphabetical sequence of towns on the Grand Trunk Railway line between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
