Arlington-Washington Futurity Stakes
The Arlington-Washington Futurity is a Listed horse race for Thoroughbred two-year-olds. It is scheduled to run at a distance of one mile on the turf at Arlington Park, Arlington Heights, Illinois every fall and as at 2020 offers a purse of $100,000. It was run as the American National Futurity in 1927 and 1928 and as the Arlington Futurity Stakes from 1932 through 1961. In 1962, the Arlington Futurity and Washington Park Futurity Stakes were merged to create the Arlington-Washington Futurity. Raced at Washington Park Race Track from 1943 to 1945, and as a result of the 1985 fire, at Hawthorne Race Course in 1985. It was not run from 1929 through 1931 as well as 1970, 1988, 1995, 1998 and 1999. Group races, also known as Pattern races, or Graded races in some jurisdictions, are the highest level of races in Thoroughbred horse racing. Diego Sanchez (born December 31, 1981) is an American professional mixed martial artist who currently competes on the Super Lightweight division of Eagle Fighting Championship. A professional competitor since 2002, Sanchez is most known for his time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he won the Middleweight tournament of The Ultimate Fighter 1. Wayne Catalano
Wayne M. Catalano (born July 24, 1956 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a former jockey and current trainer in American Thoroughbred horse racing who has won three Breeders' Cup World Championship races and trained two Eclipse Award Champions. Jockey career Wayne Catalano began riding in 1974, learning the business under U.S. Racing Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg. In 1977 Catalano won 349 races, finishing second to Steve Cauthen in the national standings. Knee injuries ended his riding career in mid April 1983 after having won 1,792 races. Tom Amoss
Thomas M. "Tom" Amoss (born November 17, 1961, in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a trainer of Thoroughbred race horses. A graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in marketing and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Tom Amoss had worked with horses while in high school and after completing his education went to work for trainers Frank Brothers, Larry Robideaux and John Parisella. In 1987 he got his trainer's license and set out on his own. He has won nine leading trainer titles. He won his 4,000th race in 2022 at Saratoga.
