"Arlekino" (russian: Арлекино; English: ''Harlequin'') is a song by Russian Soviet singer Alla Pugacheva. The song was co-authored by Bulgarian composer Emil Dimitrov and Russian poet Boris Barkas. In 1975, the song was recorded in the studio and released on the singer's first solo extended play ''Arlekino''. It simultaneously became a staple at live performances. For this song, Alla Pugacheva was awarded the Grand Prix of the 1975 Golden Orpheus international song contest in Bulgaria. ''Arlekino'' EP This EP was released on 21 June 1975 in the Soviet Union. It was her first solo EP (with studio recordings); before this, she appeared only on compilations. Alongside the lead single "Arlekino", there were two B-sides: "Posidim, pookayem" and "Ty snishsya mne". Background After release of her debut album, Pugacheva's popularity gave her a chance to enter a solo career without participating in musical ensembles. In January 1979 the premiere of the singer's concert program "The Woman who Sings" took place at the Moscow variety theater. Before that, Pugacheva's concerts did not have a specific name, and the posters said "Alla Pugacheva Sings". In addition to Moscow in 1979, Pugacheva presented a new concert program in Chelyabinsk, Volgograd, Stavropol, Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Sochi, Donetsk, Kharkov, Kiev, Moscow region cities, Leningrad, Simferopol, Yalta, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, and Kostroma. Balkanton
Balkanton ( bg, Балкантон) was a state-owned record manufacturing company in Bulgaria founded in 1952. Many of the produced records were, or still are available in the countries of the former Soviet Bloc. Balkanton's plant in Sofia was equipped for all aspects of record manufacturing from recording the masters and pressing the vinyl records to printing the cover. Multi-channel sound recording was introduced in 1972 with equipment purchased from England. In 1982 Balkanton received its own digital recording equipment. By the mid-1980s annual LP production reached 9 million units. The company mainly produced LPs and from 1980 it started to manufacture cassettes. Being the only record company in Bulgaria during four decades, Balkanton accumulated a vast library of performances of folk, classical, Bulgarian and foreign popular music, theater, poetry and more. Arndt Bause (30 November 1936 - 11 February 2003) was a German composer of popular songs. Arndt Bause produced more than 1350 dance music melodies, many of which became "hits", which meant that he had a decisive influence on the music scene in East Germany for this genre. Many of his compositions have acquired "Evergreen" status. Life Arndt Bause was born in Leipzig, the fourth of the recorded children of Werner Bause, an accountant, and his wife Emma. For several years, starting in 1948, Arndt Bause was made to learn the piano: by 1955 he had been captivated by music in general and Boogie-woogie in particular. Amiga is a popular music record label in Germany. Once an organ of the East German state-owned music publisher VEB Deutsche Schallplatten, Amiga became a label of the Bertelsmann Music Group in 1994. In 1947, actor and singer Ernst Busch got permission from the Soviet Military Administration in Germany to create a music publishing house, which was named Lied der Zeit GmbH ("Song of the Times"). This publishing company included the label Amiga. In the 1950s, Lied der Zeit became VEB Deutsche Schallplatten ("German Records"), a state-owned company with a monopoly on record production. VEB Deutsche Schallplatten had a number of labels, each with a different purview; Amiga releases included folk, jazz, pop, rock, Schlager music, chanson, and children's music.
