Arke Stars Enschede was a Dutch professional basketball club based in Enschede. Enschede
Enschede (; known as in the local Twents dialect) is a municipality and city in the eastern Netherlands in the province of Overijssel and in the Twente region. The eastern parts of the urban area reaches the border of the German city of Gronau. The municipality of Enschede consisted of the city of Enschede until 1935, when the rural municipality of Lonneker, which surrounded the city, was annexed after the rapid industrial expansion of Enschede which began in the 1860s and involved the building of railways and the digging of the Twentekanaal. Dutch Basketball League
The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. The league began in 1960 as the ''Eredivisie'' and was organized by the NBB and later the FEB. In 1977 the league introduced play-offs. As of 2019, the Dutch Basketball League consists of ten teams and plays under the FIBA rules. History 2010s Starting with the 2010–11 season, the Eredivisie changed its name to the Dutch Basketball League, shortly the DBL. NBB Cup
The Basketball Cup, formerly the NBB Cup ( nl, NBB-Beker), is an annual cup competition for Dutch basketball teams organised by the Basketball Nederland. Every team in the Netherlands can participate by signing up for the preliminary rounds. Professional basketball teams from the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) enter the tournament in the fourth round. From 1977 until 1990 professional teams were not allowed to participate in the competition. The tournament is organized in a knock-out format, with quarter- and semi-finals being two-legged series while the final is played in a single game. Heroes Den Bosch and Donar are the two clubs with the most cup titles, as both have a total of 7 titles. During the 2020–21 season, the tournament was not played and was replaced by the DBL Cup, featuring only the twelve DBL teams. Jimmy Moore (basketball, Born 1952)
Jimmy "Shimmy" Moore (born January 13, 1952) is an American former basketball player and author. He played college basketball with the Utah State and later worked as assistant coach and administrator for the university. During the 1970s and 1980s, Moore played professionally in the Dutch Eredivisie for several clubs. Standing at , Moore played as power forward. Early life Moore grew up in Leakesville, Mississippi as the son of a pulpwood worker and domestic servant and grew up with 11 siblings. As a kid, he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis but eventually recovered. He attended Leakesville High School, where he experienced regular racism. College career Moore played for Utah State for three seasons from 1972 to 1975 after he was recruited by coach Dale Brown. He recorded 30 straight double-double games in his career. The Dutch Basketball League Most Valuable Player Award is an annual award given to the most valuable player in the Dutch highest professional basketball league. Dan "Danny" Cramer (born June 2, 1952) is a former American-Dutch professional basketball player. College career Cramer starred at the University of Denver from 1971–1974. A 6’2’’ forward, he scored 504 points in 77 games (6.5 per contest) and grabbed a total of 173 rebounds (2.2 per contest). He broke the school’s record for points in a single game when he scored 50 against Southern Mississippi on February 4, 1974. He left school as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and had majored in accounting. Professional career Cramer spent his professional career in the Netherlands: From 1974 to 1977, he played for Kinzo Amstelveen, winning the Dutch national championship in 1976 and 1977. Cramer emerged as an efficient scorer in the Dutch league, averaging 26.1 points a game in the 1974–75 season, 20.5 in 1975–76 and 18.3 in 1976–77.
