The ''Southwest Times Record'' is a daily newspaper in Fort Smith, Arkansas and covers 10 counties in western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. It is owned and published by Gannett. History The Times Record began as three separate papers: the Fort Smith Times, the Fort Smith News Record and the Southwest American. The Fort Smith Times began publishing first, in December 1884, as an afternoon newspaper. The Fort Smith News Record was established in spring 1893 and also was an afternoon publication. The Southwest American, a morning daily, began publishing in 1907. In July 1909, the Times and the News Record merged as the Fort Smith Times Record. In 1920, boyhood friends John S. Talk shows and other content for the site are created primarily in studios at an undisclosed location in an industrial area in the outskirts of Austin, Texas. Reports in 2017 stated that the ''InfoWars'' website received approximately 10 million monthly visits, making its reach greater than some mainstream news websites such as ''The Economist'' and ''Newsweek'' at the time. A copyright troll is a party (person or company) that enforces copyrights it owns for purposes of making money through strategic litigation, in a manner considered unduly aggressive or opportunistic, sometimes while without producing or licensing the works it owns for paid distribution. Critics object to the activity because they believe it does not encourage the production of creative works, but instead makes money through the inequities and unintended consequences of high statutory damages provisions in copyright laws intended to encourage creation of such works. Both the term and the concept of a copyright troll began to appear in the mid-2000s.
