Highway 86 (AR 86, Ark. 86, and Hwy. 86) is a mostly north–south highway in central Arkansas. Its southern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Route 63 east of Slovak. west of Slovak, it turns north at Highway 343 and continues north and west until it intersects U.S. Highway 70 east of Carlisle. North of U.S. 70, it continues for as Anderson Road before again becoming a state highway continuing east and north for before ending at Highway 38 east of Hickory Plains. Route description History Highway 86 was created between Holly Grove and the current eastern terminus at Highway 20 on April 12, 1940. Highway 146 (AR 146, Ark. 146, and Hwy. 146) is a designation for two east–west state highways in the Lower Arkansas Delta. One route of begins at US Highway 79 (US 79) near Stuttgart and runs east to the White River at Preston Ferry. A second route of begins at Lawrenceville and runs east to Highway 39 at Noy. Both routes are maintained by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD). The following is a list of state highways in Arkansas. The state does not use a numbering convention. Generally the two-digit odd numbered highways run north–south with a few exceptions; and even-numbered two-digit state highways run east–west with a few exceptions. Arkansas has long had a stigma of poor roads, dating from the "Arkansas Roads Scandal" playing a prominent role in state politics through the 1920s and 1930s, periodic allegations of corruption, waste, and fraud, and a long-running struggle to adequately fund the operation, maintenance and expansion of a large highway system serving a rural state. The state has received the designation of "worst roads in America" from several publications throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s, with Interstate 30 and Interstate 40 often ranking particularly poorly among truckers. In 1926, Arkansas renumbered its highways into a more traditional format. The system to be replaced was established in 1924 as Arkansas' first comprehensive highway plan.McLaren, Christie. This resulted in the first true numbering of state highways in Arkansas. De Queen ( ) is a city and the county seat of Sevier County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 6,629 at the 2010 census. The placename is the anglicization of the family name of the Dutch merchant and railway financier, Jan de Goeijen (1861–1944). Sevier County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,058. The county seat is De Queen. Sevier County is Arkansas's 16th county, formed on October 17, 1828, and named for Ambrose Sevier, U.S. Senator from Arkansas.
