Highway 8 (AR 8, Ark. 8, Hwy. 8) is an east–west state highway in Lower Arkansas. The route of runs from Oklahoma State Highway 63 (SH-63) at the Oklahoma state line east across the state to US Route 65 (US 65) south of Eudora. Route description The route begins at Oklahoma State Highway 63 at the Oklahoma state line near Mena in the Ouachita National Forest and runs east. A concurrency forms with US 59/ US 71 through downtown Mena, and a concurrency with Highway 88 forms after entering the city. Highway 8 breaks from these overlaps near Ward Creek and turns south to exit Mena, continuing east with minor junctions at Highway 375, Highway 980, and Highway 370 before again entering the Ouachita National Forest near the Montgomery County line. Chicot County ( ) is a county located in the southeastern corner of the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,800. The county seat is Lake Village. Arkansas Highway 27 (AR 27, Ark. 27, and Hwy. 27) is a designation for two north–south state highways in Arkansas. One route begins at US Highway 59 (US 59) and US 71 near Ben Lomond north to Highway 7 in Dardanelle. A second segment begins at Highway 7 in Dover and runs north to Highway 14 at Harriet. An original Arkansas state highway, Highway 27 was created as one continuous route in 1926, but was split around Russellville in 1961. Norman is a town in Montgomery County, Arkansas, United States. It was known as Womble until 1925. The population was 303 at the 2020 census, down from 378 in 2010. Geography The community is in southern Montgomery County at the intersection of Arkansas highways 8 and 27. It is south of Mount Ida, the county seat, and northwest of Glenwood. Norman is situated on the northeast bank of the Caddo River (which defines the town's southwestern city limits) and is surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest. Black Springs is a town in Montgomery County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 96 at the 2020 census. Geography Black Springs is located in southwestern Montgomery County at (34.4612118, -93.7126919). Cogburn Dipping Vat
The Cogburn Dipping Vat is a historic former cattle dipping facility in Ouachita National Forest, west of Black Spring, Arkansas. It is located about west of Forest Road 73 and south of a perennial stream. It is a U-shaped concrete structure, with a distinctive curved shape that matches the contours of the terrain, with a concrete pad at one end. The total length of the structure is about . It was built between 1930 and 1940 as part of a state program to eradicate Texas tick fever from the state's cattle. The vat's name derives from the Cogburn, who homesteaded a farm in the area, and probably built the vat to serve their needs and those of other nearby farmers. A western route of runs east from U.S. Route 59/ U.S. Route 71 (US 59/US 71) at Potter Junction to Highway 8 in Mena. Concurrency (road)
A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Other terminology for a concurrency includes overlap, coincidence, duplex (two concurrent routes), triplex (three concurrent routes), multiplex (any number of concurrent routes), dual routing or triple routing. Concurrent numbering can become very common in jurisdictions that allow it.
