Arkalyk Airport
Arkalyk Airport (also given as Arkalyk North) is an airport in Kazakhstan located north of Arkalyk Arkalyk ( kz, Arqalyq; cyrl, Арқалық, russian: Аркалык) is a city in Kostanay Region, northern Kazakhstan. Earlier, it was the centre of Torgay Region, which was abolished in 1997. Today, it is the administrative centre of Torgay D .... It is a small civilian airport built during the Soviet era, and has a sizeable asphalt apron and passenger terminal. The terminal building is in a state of disrepair, and may be completely disused, and the apron and runway are both poorly maintained. The facility is used by the Russian space agency to base and refuel helicopters used in the recovery of returning Soyuz missions. It may also see private use. Asphalt, also known as bitumen (, ), is a sticky, black, highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. It may be found in natural deposits or may be a refined product, and is classed as a pitch. Before the 20th century, the term asphaltum was also used.
