Arkadiusz Gołaś
Arkadiusz Gołaś (10 May 1981 – 16 September 2005) was a Polish volleyball player, member of the Poland men's national volleyball team in 2001–2005, participant of the Olympic Games (Athens 2004). Personal life He married Agnieszka (née Dziewońska) on July 21, 2005. His best man was another volleyball player, his best friend Krzysztof Ignaczak. On September 16, 2005 Arkadiusz died in Griffen, Austria near Klagenfurt in Austria on the A2 motorway when the car he was riding in struck a concrete wall. His wife, Agnieszka, who was driving, survived. They were on their way to Macerata, where Arkadiusz was due to begin playing his first season at the club Lube Banca Macerata. His last match with the Polish national team was on September 8, 2005, when Poland beat Portugal (3-0). His funeral held on September 22, 2005 in Ostrołęka. Przasnysz
Przasnysz (; yi, פראשניץ, russian: Прасныш) is a town in north-central Poland. Located in the Masovian Voivodship, about 110 km north of Warsaw and about 115 km south of Olsztyn, it is the capital of Przasnysz County. It has 18,093 inhabitants (2004). It was one of the most important towns in Mazovia during the Middle Ages. Przasnysz was granted town privileges in 1427. Mariusz Łukasz Wlazły (born 4 August 1983) is a Polish professional volleyball player. He was a member of the Poland men's national volleyball team, Poland national team from 2005 to 2014. A participant in the Olympic Games 2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing 2008, 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, 2014 World Champion, and a nine–time Polish Champion with Skra Bełchatów. At the professional club level, he plays for Trefl Gdańsk. Personal life Mariusz Wlazły was born in Wieluń, Poland. On 17 June 2006, Mariusz married Paulina (née Drewicz). Sebastian Świderski
Sebastian Krzysztof Świderski (born 26 June 1977) is a Polish former professional volleyball player and coach. He was a member of the Poland national team from 1996 to 2011, a participant in the Olympic Games (Athens 2004, Beijing 2008), and a silver medallist at the 2006 World Championship. Since 2021, Świderski has been president of the Polish Volleyball Federation. Career as player Club Świderski's first club as a player was Znicz Gorzów Wielkopolski. Then, he played for Stilon Gorzów Wielkopolski, with whom he won bronze and silver medals of the Polish Championship and Polish Cup in 1997. In 2000, he started playing for Mostostal Azoty Kędzierzyn-Koźle. With the club from Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Świderski won the Polish Cup twice (in 2001, 2002) and three titles of Polish Champion in 2001, 2002, 2003. Lech Kaczyński
Lech Aleksander Kaczyński (; 18 June 194910 April 2010) was a Polish politician who served as the city mayor of Warsaw from 2002 until 2005, and as President of Poland from 2005 until his death in 2010. Before his tenure as president, he previously served as President of the Supreme Audit Office from 1992 to 1995 and later Minister of Justice and Public Prosecutor General in Jerzy Buzek's cabinet from 2000 until his dismissal in July 2001. 2006 FIVB Men's World Championship
The 2006 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship was held in Japan from 17 November to 3 December 2006. Like the previous edition, 24 teams participated in the tournament. Brazil won the Tournament (retaining their championship title), defeating Poland 3:0 in the final match. Bulgaria placed 3rd, defeating Serbia and Montenegro 3:1 in the 3rd place match. The Polish team dedicated this achievement to the deceased Polish volleyball player Arkadiusz Gołaś. The team honored him at the award ceremony, when they wore T-shirts with the number 16 and the words "Golas". Host Finals hosts Japan. The tournament was held in six Japan cities.
