Arizona Wildcats Football
The Arizona Wildcats football program represents the University of Arizona (UA) in the sport of American college football. Arizona competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12). They play their home games at Arizona Stadium, which opened in 1929 on the university's campus in Tucson, Arizona, and has a capacity of 50,782. The team is coached by Jedd Fisch. Arizona's inaugural season was in 1889. The school joined the Pac-10 Conference in 1978 alongside rival Arizona State, and became a member of the Pac-12 South Division when the conference realigned in 2011. 1899 Arizona Football Team
The 1899 Arizona football team was an American football team that represented the University of Arizona as an independent during the 1899 college football season. In its first season of football, the team compiled a 1–1–1 record and outscored all opponents, 24 to 16. The team was organized in January 1899 by Professor R. H. Forbes, but no games were played until the fall when a student committee raised $70 from merchants in the Old Pueblo to purchase uniforms. Stuart Forbes was the team's coach, George M. Parker was the manager and team captain. The team's colors during the 1899 season were sage green and silver. The Pride Of Arizona
The Pride of Arizona (PoA) is the marching band and pep band at the University of Arizona. The band was founded in 1902 as the UA ROTC Band and contained 12 members. The band is well-known for their performance at Super Bowl I and the Inaugural Parade of President James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr. History * 1885: The University of Arizona is established. * 1902: The UA ROTC Band is established under the direction of student B-flat clarinetist William K. Stuart Forbes (American Football)
Stuart Falconer Forbes (December 26, 1876 – July 5, 1958) was an American football player and coach. He served as the first head football coach at the University of Arizona, coaching for one season in 1899 and compiling a record of 1–1–1. Early years Forbes was born in Cobden, Illinois in 1876. He was the son of Henry Clinton Forbes and Jennie Forbes. He attended the University of Illinois, receiving a B.S. degree in architecture in 1898. While attending Illinois, he was the editor-in-chief of the '' Technograph'', a fullback on the varsity football team, and a member of Phi Gamma Delta and the Shield & Trident. The Arizona State Sun Devils are the athletic teams that represent Arizona State University. The Arizona–New Mexico football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Arizona Wildcats and New Mexico Lobos. They have met 67 times on the football field. New Mexico Lobos Football
The New Mexico Lobos football team is the intercollegiate football team at the University of New Mexico. The Lobos compete as a member of the Mountain West Conference. Their official colors are cherry and silver. The Lobos play their home games at University Stadium. History Early history (1892–1959) The first New Mexico Lobos football team took the field in 1892. The team didn't have a head coach from 1892 to 1893 and in 1899. The Lobos didn't field a football team from 1895 to 1898, 1900 and 1902.
