The Arizona Complex League White Sox are a Rookie-level affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, competing in the Arizona Complex League of Minor League Baseball. The team plays its home games at Camelback Ranch in Phoenix, Arizona. The team is composed mainly of players who are in their first year of professional baseball either as draftees or non-drafted free agents from the United States, Canada, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and other countries. History The team first competed in the Arizona League (AZL) from 1998 to 2002. The team played at facilities in Tucson from 1998 to 2000, and Phoenix from 2001 to 2002. The team was formed after the major-league Chicago White Sox moved their spring training headquarters from Sarasota, Florida, to Tucson Electric Park after the 1997 season. Edwin Almonte (born December 17, 1976) is a former pitcher, who last played for the independent baseball, independent Schaumburg Flyers in 2009. He is 6'3", weighs 220 lbs, and bats and throws right-handed. He attended Seward Park High School in New York and Saint Francis College in Brooklyn. Baseball career Almonte was drafted in the 26th round of the draft by the Chicago White Sox.
