Arizona Roundup
''Arizona Roundup'' is a 1942 American Western film produced and directed by Robert Emmett Tansey who co-wrote the film with Frances Kavanaugh. The film stars Tom Keene, Frank Yaconelli, Sugar Dawn, Jack Ingram, Hope Blackwood in her only film and Steve Clark. The film was released on March 6, 1942, by Monogram Pictures. Plot Tom Kenyon ( Tom Keene) and his sidekick Pierre La Fair (Frank Yaconelli) are hired by rancher Mike O'Day and his daughter Sugar (Sugar Dawn) to deliver wild horses to the government's remount station. Ed Spencer and Ted Greenway form a combine that they plan to use to charge an exorbitant price to O'Day to get the horses shipped. Tom then discloses that he is a government agent and has a plan to beat their villainous scheme. Harry Franklin "Hal" Price (June 24, 1886 – April 15, 1964) was an American film and stage actor. He appeared in more than 260 films between 1930 and 1952. He is the father of character actress and comedian Lu Leonard. On stage, Price toured for three months with Will Rogers in a production of '' Ah, Wilderness!''. Monogram Pictures Corporation was an American film studio that produced mostly low-budget films between 1931 and 1953, when the firm completed a transition to the name Allied Artists Pictures Corporation. Monogram was among the smaller studios in the golden age of Hollywood, generally referred to collectively as Poverty Row. Frances Kavanaugh
Frances Kavanaugh (February 5, 1915 – January 23, 2009) was an American screenwriter known for penning B-Westerns. Biography Beginnings Born in Dallas, Texas, to Clyde and Robbie Kavanaugh, Frances grew up in Houston around ranching, cowboys, and horseback riding. She graduated from San Jacinto High School and then studied accounting at the University of Texas before moving to Los Angeles with her parents in 1940. She was married and divorced some time before 1940. Hollywood career She began writing scenarios after attending a workshop held by director Max Reinhart, and her scripts soon caught the eye of director Robert Emmett Tansey. He gave her a job at his production company, and she eventually proved her talent for screenwriting. Due to her prolific output of Western scripts in the 1940s, Kavanaugh was dubbed "the Cowgirl of the Typewriter."
