Arizona Attorney General
The Arizona Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Arizona, in the United States. This state officer is the head of the Arizona Department of Law, more commonly known as the Arizona Attorney General's Office. The state attorney general is a constitutionally-established officer, elected by the people of the state to a four-year term. The state attorney general is second (behind the Secretary of State) in the line of succession to the office of Governor of Arizona. Mark Brnovich
Mark Brnovich (born 1966) is an American attorney and politician who served as the 26th Attorney General of Arizona from 2015 to 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he was an unsuccessful candidate for its nomination in the 2022 U.S. Senate election in Arizona. He is married to Susan Brnovich, a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Early life and education Brnovich was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1966. His parents were Serbs who had immigrated from former Yugoslavia, his father from Montenegro, and his mother from Split, Croatia. He has said that his mother emigrated to the United States to escape communism. Brnovich and his family moved to Arizona when he was young. They attend a local Serbian Orthodox parish in Phoenix. Granville Henderson Oury
Granville Henderson Oury (March 12, 1825 – January 11, 1891) was a nineteenth-century American politician, lawyer, judge, soldier, and miner. Early life Born in Abingdon, Virginia; Granville Henderson Oury and his family moved to Bowling Green, Missouri, in 1836 where he pursued his academic studies, studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1848. That year, he moved to San Antonio, Texas, and in 1849 to Marysville, California, where he engaged in mining. He then moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1856 and began a law practice and was appointed a district judge for New Mexico Territory in Mesilla. Oury was involved in the infamous Crabb Massacre of April 1857, during which no more than 100 Americans were killed after an eight-day battle with Mexican forces at Caborca, Sonora. George Purdy Bullard
George Purdy Bullard (April 14, 1869 – July 25, 1924) was an American lawyer and Democratic Party politician. Bullard was the first Attorney General of Arizona after it gained statehood. Life and career George Purdy Bullard was born in 1869 in Portland, Oregon. His family moved to San Francisco, California during his childhood. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in California and started practicing law at the age of 21. John Frank Wilson (May 7, 1846 – April 7, 1911) was a Delegate from the Territory of Arizona. Born near Pulaski, Tennessee, Wilson moved with his parents to Alabama and attended the common schools and Rhuhama (Alabama) College. He served in the Confederate States Army as a member of Company B, First Battalion, Volunteer Infantry, and later on staff duty under General Hindman until 1863, after which he served as lieutenant colonel of a regiment. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1866 and commenced practice in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He served as member of the Arkansas House of Representatives in 1877 and 1878.
