Aristodemo Giorgini
Aristodemo Giorgini (30 June 1877 – 19 January 1937) was an Italian opera singer who sang leading lyric tenor roles on the stages of Europe and North America during his 25-year career. He made numerous recordings in the early 20th century and was described by '' Gramophone Magazine'' as possessing "a sweet, steady, well-placed voice and a style distinguished by the purity of its legato." After his retirement from the stage in 1930, he taught singing in Naples, the city of his birth. Life and career Giorgini was born in Naples and studied at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He made an unsuccessful stage debut in Naples in 1903 after which he pursued further private vocal studies with Massimino Perilli. In 1904 he made his first recording for G&T, and the following year made his La Scala debut as Ernesto in '' Don Pasquale''. He went on to sing in most of the major opera houses in Italy. ''Rigoletto'' is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi. The Italian libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave based on the 1832 play ''Le roi s'amuse'' by Victor Hugo. Despite serious initial problems with the Austrian censors who had control over northern Italian theatres at the time, the opera had a triumphant premiere at La Fenice in Venice on 11 March 1851. ''La Gioconda'' is an opera in four acts by Amilcare Ponchielli set to an Italian libretto by Arrigo Boito (as Tobia Gorrio), based on '' Angelo, Tyrant of Padua'', a 1835 play in prose by Victor Hugo (the same source Gaetano Rossi had used for his libretto for Mercadante's '' Il giuramento'' in 1837). Attilio Enrico Paparella, known professionally as Attilio Parelli (31 May 1874 – 26 December 1944) was an Italian conductor and composer. Born in the village of Monteleone d'Orvieto, about 35 km southwest of Perugia, he studied with Cesare de Sanctis at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome between 1891 and 1899. He started work as a conductor in Italy and Paris, before moving to the United States. From 1906 he collaborated with Cleofonte Campanini at the Manhattan Opera House and the Chicago Grand Opera Company.
