Arise Roots
Arise Roots is an American roots reggae band based out of Los Angeles, California. Their music is described as a "positive classic roots sound with a modern twist". History Formation and ''Lay Your Guns Down EP'' (2010) Arise Roots formed in 2010 on the streets of L.A. with one goal in mind: to create a new sound of "quality high grade roots reggae" with a modern feel that appeals to all walks of life without compromising traditional reggae music. With Montoya on the drum kit, Rudy Covarrubias on bass, Todd Johnson on keys and harmonies, Arise Roots needed a soulful singer. Karim Israel was added on lead vocals when he answered Montoya's ad on Craigslist. A month later, lead guitarist, Robert Sotelo was added to the band. The Expanders
The Expanders are an American roots reggae band from Los Angeles, California. Biography Formation and Self-titled album The Expanders formed in Los Angeles, California in the summer of 2003. The band's sound is influenced by vintage 1970s and early 1980s Jamaican reggae groups, with three-part vocal harmonies, conscious songwriting, and an indie-DIY spirit. The Expanders self-titled debut album was recorded from 2006 to 2010 and was released in 2011 on Man-Like Records. It captured the retro Jamaican sound they hoped to create by recording at Killion Sound studio in Los Angeles, California alongside sound engineer Jay Bonner, the original bass player for The Aggrolites. Roy "Gramps" Morgan (born July 7, 1976), is a Jamaican singer, instrumentalist, producer, record executive, and entrepreneur. Gramps was born in Brooklyn, New York, but was raised partially in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Aggrolites
The Aggrolites are an American reggae band from Los Angeles, California, United States, which formed in 2002. Overview The Aggrolites are an amalgamation of two previous Los Angeles reggae and ska bands, the Vessels and the Rhythm Doctors. They formed in 2002 as a live backing band for reggae icon Derrick Morgan, and were asked to record music for a new Morgan album. The project was never released, but the recording sessions inspired the Aggrolites to become a permanent band. They have served as the backing band for Phyllis Dillon, Scotty, Joseph Hill of Culture, Prince Buster, and Tim Armstrong.
