Rosalba Pippa (born 20 August 1982), better known by her stage name Arisa, is an Italian singer and actress. Early life Arisa was born in Genoa, Italy. A week after her birth, her family moved back to their original hometown, Pignola, a village a few kilometres from Potenza. (in Italian) Her stage name is an acronym of her family members' names: A from her father, Antonio; R from her own name, Rosalba; I and S from her sisters, Isabella and Sabrina; and A from her mother, Assunta. In 1999, she won first prize in the Cantacavallo competition in Teggiano for her singing ability. The president of the jury, journalist and writer Bianca Fasano, personally delivered the cup. Career Arisa rose to fame after her participation in the Sanremo Music Festival 2009. She placed first in the newcomers' section and won the Mia Martini Critics Award with her entry, "Sincerità". Arisa (manga)
is a Japanese mystery ''shōjo'' (targeted towards girls) manga series written and illustrated by Natsumi Ando. It appeared as a serial in the monthly manga magazine ''Nakayoshi'' from the February 2009 issue to the September 2012 issue. Kodansha published the chapters in twelve bound volumes, from April 2009 to September 2012. Set in present-day Japan, it focuses on teenager Tsubasa Uehara, as she investigates the mystery surrounding her twin sister's suicide attempt. With her sister left comatose, Tsubasa poses as her in the hopes of uncovering the identity of the King, a person who grants wishes to Arisa's class, often resulting in violence. Del Rey licensed the series for an English-language translation in North America. It published the first volume in October 2010, and shortly afterward, Kodansha USA took over publishing, with the final volume published in January 2014. ''Arisa'' is the debut studio album by Japanese recording artist Alisa Mizuki, Arisa Mizuki, released through Nippon Columbia on December 4, 1991. ''Arisa'' is predominantly a pop music album. It is written by an array of famous Japanese musicians, including Amii Ozaki, Princess Princess (band), Princess Princess vocalist Kaori Kishitani, Kaori Okui, :ja:小林武史, Takeshi Kobayashi, Tetsuya Komuro, and The Alfee guitarist :ja:高見沢俊彦, Toshihiko Takamizawa. In its review of the album, CDJournal described ''Arisa'' as an "Japanese idol, idol record" that can appeal to actual music lovers. The online magazine praised Mizuki's vocal ability for being "far greater than the typical teenager" and noted that the only apparent flaw was the album's lack of cohesion.
