Aris T. Allen
Aris T. Allen (December 27, 1910 – February 8, 1991) was an American politician who was the first African-American chair of the Maryland Republican party and the first to run for a statewide office in Maryland. Background Aris Allen was born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 27, 1910. He attended public schools in San Antonio and Washington, D.C., and graduated from Dunbar High School in Washington. He attended Howard University and Howard University Medical School, earning an M.D. in 1944. Allen was president of his class at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Allen married Faye E. Watson in 1947; the couple had two children. Allen served as a pilot in a United States Army Specialized Training Program in 1942, and was an Air Force flight surgeon from 1953 to 1955. Maryland Route 665 (MD 665) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Aris T. Allen Boulevard, the state highway runs from U.S. Route 50 (US 50)/US 301 in Parole east to Bywater Road and Forest Drive in Annapolis. MD 665 is a four-lane divided highway that connects US 50/US 301 and Interstate 97 (I-97) with MD 2 and the southern part of Annapolis and adjacent unincorporated communities on the Annapolis Neck in central Anne Arundel County. MD 665 was assigned to Forest Drive from MD 2 east to Bay Ridge Avenue circa 1950. The highway was relocated at its intersections with MD 387 and Bay Ridge Road in the 1960s. The Forest Drive iteration of MD 665 was removed from the state highway system in the late 1980s immediately before construction began on modern MD 665, which opened in 1992. John Glenn Beall Jr
James Glenn Beall Jr. (June 19, 1927March 24, 2006) was an American Republican politician and businessman from the state of Maryland who served in the United States House of Representatives, representing (1969–1971), and as a United States Senator from Maryland (1971–1977). He was also a member of the Maryland House of Delegates (1962–1968). Life and career Beall was born in Cumberland, Maryland, the eldest of three. His father was James Glenn Beall, who served as U.S. Representative from Maryland's 6th congressional district (1943–1953) and as a U.S. Senator from Maryland (1953–1965). His younger brother, George Beall, served as United States Attorney for the District of Maryland (1970–1975), and in 1973, prosecuted Vice President Spiro Agnew for bribery.
