''Arif'in Hilesi'' (Arif's Trick) is an 1874 Turkish-language opera by the Armenian composer Tigran Chukhajian (Dikran Çuhaciyan in Turkish). Tigran Chukhajian
Tigran Gevorki Chukhajian ( hy, Տիգրան Չուխաճեան, tr, Dikran Çuhacıyan; 1837 – March 11, 1898) was an Ottoman Armenian composer and conductor, and the founder of the first opera institution in the Ottoman Empire. Biography Chukhajian was born in Constantinople. He studied at composer Gabriel Yeranian's class, then had classes in Milan. Along with other Armenian intellectuals of that period he fought for the development of national culture, organized Armenian musical societies, theatres, schools, papers and free concerts. In 1862, he took over publication of the Armenian musical journal ''Armenian Lyre''.In his works, Chukhajian used the elements of European musical techniques and eastern music elements He is an author of pieces for piano, songs and romances, chamber and symphonic works, operas. ''Leblebici hor-hor agha'' ''(The Chickpea Seller) or Karine (Կարինե)'' is an 1875 operetta by the Ottoman-Armenian composer Tigran Chukhajian. Its first performance was in Turkish. It has been claimed as the first original Turkish operetta, though Chukhajian's ''Arif'in Hilesi'' ''(Arif's Trick)'' was earlier. After that, Leblebici Horhor was shot as a silent film in 1923 under the direction of Muhsin Ertuğrul. This film was supported by the piano playing of the operetta in the movie theater while it was shown to the audience. In 1934, the screenplay was written by Nazim Hikmet Ran by İpek Film, again under the direction of Muhsin Ertuğrul, and it was shot as a sound film under the name Leblebici Horhor Ağa. This film participated in the "Venice International Film Festival" and won an international film festival award (honorary award) for Turkey for the first time. Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol; uk, link=no, Мико́ла Васи́льович Го́голь, translit=Mykola Vasyliovych Hohol; (russian: Яновский; uk, Яновський, translit=Yanovskyi) ( – ) was a Russian novelist, short story writer and playwright of Ukrainian origin. Gogol was one of the first to use the technique of the grotesque, in works such as " The Nose", " Viy", "The Overcoat", and "Nevsky Prospekt". These stories, and others such as " Diary of a Madman", have also been noted for their proto-surrealist qualities. According to Viktor Shklovsky, Gogol's strange style of writing resembles the "ostranenie" technique of defamiliarization. ''The Government Inspector'', also known as ''The Inspector General'' ( rus, links=no, Ревизор, Revizor, literally: "Inspector"), is a satirical play by Russian dramatist and novelist, Nikolai Gogol. Originally published in 1836, the play was revised for an 1842 edition. Based upon an anecdote allegedly recounted to Gogol by Pushkin, the play is a comedy of errors, satirizing human greed, stupidity, and the extensive political corruption of Imperial Russia. The dream-like scenes of the play, often mirroring each other, whirl in the endless vertigo of self-deception around the main character, Khlestakov, who personifies irresponsibility, light-mindedness, and absence of measure.
