Ariel (novel)
''Ariel'' (russian: Ариэль) is a science fiction novel by Alexander Beliaev published for the first time in 1941. The main character, Ariel, has the power to fly without any device as a result of a scientific experiment aimed at creation of this ability. He and a young friend escape from the school where they were confined. In the course of the events, Ariel discovers that he is English people, English and was taken to that special school in India because he and his sister were rich, and that he was given into custody to people who want his money. Alexander Beliaev
Alexander Romanovich Belyaev (russian: Алекса́ндр Рома́нович Беля́ев, ; – 6 January 1942) was a Soviet Russian writer of science fiction. His works from the 1920s and 1930s made him a highly regarded figure in Russian science fiction, often referred to as "Russia's Jules Verne". Belyaev's best known books include '' Professor Dowell's Head'', ''Amphibian Man'', ''Ariel'', and '' The Air Seller''. Biography Alexander Belyaev was born in Smolensk in the family of an Orthodox priest. His father, after losing two other children (Alexander's sister Nina died at childhood from sarcoma and his brother Vasiliy, a veterinary student, drowned during a boat trip), wanted him to continue the family tradition and enrolled Alexander into Smolensk seminary.
