'' Argentinísima'' (English language:) is a 1972 Argentine musical documentary film directed by Fernando Ayala and Héctor Olivera written by Félix Luna. The film premiered on 8 July 1972 in Buenos Aires. The film consists of musical performances, mostly Argentine folklore, many of which are accompanied by dancing. Several sequences were filmed in scenic locations throughout the country. '' Argentinísima II'' was released the following year in 1973. Fernando Ayala
Fernando Ayala (2 July 1920 – 11 September 1997) was an Argentine film director, screenwriter and film producer of the classic era. He is widely considered one of the most important Argentine film directors and producers in the history of the cinema of Argentina. Ayala initially began as a trainee assistant director in 1942, in '' El Viaje'', and within two years he had become an assistant director. By 1949 he had obtained his first job as director, and from 1958 he also served as producer for the films he directed and some others. Between 1950 and 1987 he was involved in the direction and production of well over 40 films, such as '' Ayer fue primavera'' in 1955 and ''Argentinísima'' and '' Argentinísima II'' in 1972 and 1973 respectively. In 1963 he was a member of the jury at the 13th Berlin International Film Festival. Héctor Olivera (born 5 April 1931) is an Argentine film director, producer and screenwriter. Olivera worked mainly in the cinema of Argentina, but also has directed or contributed to several films made for the United States market. Biography He began his career when he was seventeen as a second assistant director and founded his own production company in 1956 at age twenty-five. He has produced over 100 features. In the United States he is known for two of his films: '' Night of the Pencils'' (1986) and ''Funny Dirty Little War'' (1983). After completing ''Funny Dirty Little War'', he directed five films for Roger Corman: ''Cocaine Wars'' (1985), ''Barbarian Queen'' (1985), ''Wizards of the Lost Kingdom'' (1985), '' Two to Tango'' (1988), and ''Play Murder for Me'' (1990). Nélida Lobato, born Haydée Nélida Menta (; 19 June 1934 – 9 May 1982), was an Argentinian dancer, vedette, model and actress. She began her career at 18 years old in a programme of LR3 Radio Belgrano Televisión showing her talent for the dance and later, when Buddy Day, owner of the theatre Bim-Bam-Bum in Santiago, Chile, gave her the opportunity to star in his theatre. Despite her small stature, she had sex appeal and was noted for her exuberance on the stage. In 1955, she was a ballet dancer in Alfredo Alaria dance company. Jorge Antonio Cafrune ( Perico Del Carmen, Jujuy, August 8, 1937 – Buenos Aires, February 1, 1978) was one of the most popular Argentine folklorist singers of his time, as well as an unflagging researcher, compilator, and diffuser of the native culture. Biography Jorge Cafrune was born in the ''estancia'' "La Matilde" of El Sunchal, Perico Del Carmen, Jujuy in a family of Syrian–Lebanese origin. He completed his secondary studies in San Salvador de Jujuy, during which he took guitar classes with Nicolás Lamadrid. In 1957 he recorded his first album with the band Las voces de Huayra that in 1960 changed its name to Los cantores del Alba, with Ariel Ramírez as manager.
