Argentino De Merlo
Club Atlético Argentino (mostly known as Argentino de Merlo) is an Argentine football club from Merlo, Buenos Aires. The squad currently plays in Primera D Metropolitana, the regionalised five division of the Argentine football league system. History The club was founded in 1906 by a group of young workers from Estación Merlo (Merlo Station) of the Buenos Aires Western Railway. Originally conceived as a football and rugby union team, the club had its own facilities where not only football but tennis and cricket were played. At the end of the 1920s, Argentino moved to a land where only tennis could be practised. Two years later the club built its football stadium although in 1920 the club moved again to Merlo, Buenos Aires, where its headquarters still remain. In 1933 Argentino signed the purchase of those lands where the current headquarters were built. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Primera D
The Primera D is one of two leagues that form the fifth division of the Argentine football league system. Made up of 11 clubs from Buenos Aires Province, the league is the only one that remains amateur. The other league at level five is the Torneo Federal C, where teams from regional leagues take part. It was created in 1950 under the name "Tercera de Ascenso" ("third level of promotion"). The first champion was Liniers. In 1962 the tournament changed its name to "Primera de Aficionados", which lasted to 1974, when it was called "Primera D", which has remained to date. The Primera C Metropolitana is one of the two professional leagues that form the fourth level of the Argentine football league system. Primera C Metropolitana is made up of 20 clubs mainly from the city of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area (Greater Buenos Aires). The other league at level four is the Torneo Federal B, where teams from regional leagues take part. Format Primera C is currently organised into two league tournaments, the Apertura (opening) and the Clausura (closing). Each team plays every other team once in the Apertura, and then once again at the reverse venue in the Clausura. The winners of the two league titles are recognised as champions. Club Atlético Ferrocarril Midland is an Argentine football club based in the Libertad district of Merlo Partido, in the Greater Buenos Aires. The team currently plays in Primera C, the fourth division of Argentine football league system. The club was founded on June 28, 1914 by workers of the Buenos Aires Midland Railway with the objective to participate in some sports and other social activities. In 1929 the club was divided into two divisions: "Club Midland" and "Club Atlético Libertad", but they were reunited in 1933. Midland competed in the regional divisions until 1960 when the club gained its affiliation to the Argentine Football Association.
