This is a list of major records of the Argentine Primera División, the top level of the Argentine football league system. The first season was held in 1891. There have also been a number of changes in the competition format: #Between 1891 and 1966 it was played during one year in a double round-robin tournament. #Between 1967 and 1985 there were two championships per year ( Metropolitano and Nacional). #Between 1985 and 1991 it was contested via round-robin again, but with the European style calendar (season started in mid year). #Since 1991, it is contested with an Apertura and Clausura format, meaning there are two champions per season. #Since 2012, it is contested with a format similar to this last, with two champions per season, and a third, which is the winner of a final played between these two teams. The Primera División (; en, "First Division"), known officialy as Liga Profesional de Fútbol, or Torneo Binance for sponsorship reasons, is a professional football league in Argentina, organised by the Argentine Football Association (AFA). The Primera División is the country's premier football division and is the top division of the Argentine football league system. It operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Primera Nacional (Second Division), with the teams placed lowest at the end of the season being relegated. Club Atlético Banfield is an Argentine sports club based in the Banfield district of Greater Buenos Aires. It was founded on 21 January 1896, by the British–origin inhabitants of that city (mostly English, and some Scots and Irish). The club is mostly known for its football teams, that currently competes in Primera División, the top division of the Argentine football league system. Carlos Bianchi
Carlos Arcesio Bianchi (born 26 April 1949), nicknamed ''El Virrey'' (''The Viceroy''), is an Argentine former football player and manager. A prolific goalscorer, although he had a bright career as a forward in Argentina and France, Bianchi is best known as one of the most successful coaches of all time managing Vélez Sarsfield and Boca Juniors to a great number of titles each. Bianchi is the only coach to win four Copa Libertadores. He most recently served as manager of Boca Juniors. Boca Juniors and Vélez Sársfield made him a statue. 1970 Argentine Primera División
The 1970 Primera División season was the 79th season of top-flight football in Argentina, with Independiente winning the Metropolitano championship (9th title) by goals for difference (43–42) after being equaled on points with River Plate. In the Nacional championship, Boca Juniors (coached by José María Silvero after Alfredo Di Stéfano resigned) won its 18th league title after beating Rosario Central in the final. Starting this season, two substitutions were allowed per team during the game. That rule had been first introduced in 1959, but for injured goalkeepers only. Unlike previous seasons, there was no team promoted from Primera B Metropolitana. Boca Juniors and Rosario Central (as champion and runner up of Nacional respectively) qualified to 1971 Copa Libertadores.
