The Argentina national beach soccer team represents Argentina in international beach soccer competitions and is controlled by the AFA, the governing body for football in Argentina. The Argentina national beach soccer team has qualified and participated in eight FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tournaments and has been a Winner of the CONMEBOL Competition once and Runners-up twice. Argentina is ranked 10th in the FIFA World Rankings. The Argentine Football Association ( es, Asociación del Fútbol Argentino, ; AFA) is the governing body of football in Argentina based in Buenos Aires. It organises the main divisions of Argentine league system (from Primera División to Torneo Regional Federal and Primera D), including domestic cups: Copa Argentina, Copa de la Liga Profesional and the Trofeo de Campeones de la Liga Profesional. The body also manages all the Argentina national teams, including the Senior, U-20, U-17, U-15, Olympic and women's squads. The 1996 Beach Soccer World Championships was the second edition of the '' Beach Soccer World Championships'', the most prestigious competition in international beach soccer contested by men's national teams until 2005, when the competition was then replaced by the second iteration of a world cup in beach soccer, the better known '' FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup''. It was organised by Brazilian sports agency Koch Tavares (one of the founding partners of Beach Soccer Worldwide). The tournament again took place at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as it did during the maiden edition a year earlier. The 2005 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was the first edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, an international beach soccer competition contest by men's national teams and organized by FIFA.
