Argentina Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Argentina women's national field hockey team ( es, Selección femenina de hockey sobre césped de Argentina, links=no) is governed by the Argentine Hockey Confederation (CAH). The current coach is Fernando Ferrara, who was appointed after Carlos Retegui let go in late 2021. The team is currently second in the FIH Women's World Ranking. ''Las Leonas'' (The Lionesses) have appeared in six Hockey World Cup finals, including the first final in 1974, which they lost 1–0 to the Netherlands. Argentina had to settle with second place in two more finals before winning the tournament for the first time in 2002, beating the Netherlands 4–3 in the final on penalty strokes after a 1–1 draw. 2022 Women's Pan American Cup
The 2022 Women's Pan American Cup was the sixth edition of the Women's Pan American Cup, the quadrennial international women's field hockey championship of the Americas organized by the Pan American Hockey Federation. It was planned to be held from 7 until 22 August 2021 in Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago. However, following the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics to July and August 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled and on 4 September 2020 the hosts Trinidad and Tobago withdrew from hosting the tournament. Argentina were the defending champions, winning the 2017 edition. They defended their title after a final win over Chile. The top three teams qualified for the 2022 FIH Hockey World Cup. The 2017 Women's Pan American Cup was the fifth edition of the Women's Pan American Cup, the quadrennial international women's field hockey championship of the Americas organised by the Pan American Hockey Federation. It was held between 5 and 13 August 2017 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States, simultaneously with the men's tournament. The Women's Pan American Cup is a women's international field hockey tournament organized by the Pan American Hockey Federation. The winning team becomes the champion of the Americas and qualifies for the FIH Hockey World Cup. Argentina are the defending champions, winning the 2022 edition. The Women's field hockey tournament at the 2019 Pan American Games will be the 9th edition of the field hockey event for women at the Pan American Games. It will take place over a twelve-day period beginning on 29 July, and culminated with the medal finals on 9 August. The winner of this tournament will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Qualification A total of eight women's teams qualified to compete at the games.
