Arden Municipality
Arden municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in North Jutland County on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark until 1 January 2007. The municipality covered an area of 228 km2, and had a total population of 8,513 (2005). Its last mayor was Hans Christian Maarup, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Arden. The municipality was created in 1970 due to a ("Municipality Reform") that combined Astrup, Store Arden, Oue-Valsgaard, Rold-Vebbestrup and Rostrup municipalities. On 1 January 2007 Arden municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It was merged with former Hadsund and Hobro municipalities, and part of Mariager Municipality to form the new Mariagerfjord Municipality. Danish Language
Danish (; , ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people, principally in and around Denmark. Communities of Danish speakers are also found in Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the northern German region of Southern Schleswig, where it has minority language status. North Denmark Region
The North Jutland Region ( da, Region Nordjylland), or in some official sources, the North Denmark Region, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform, which abolished the traditional counties () and set up five larger regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the number of municipalities from 271 before 1 January 2006, when Ærø Municipality was created, to 98. North Jutland Region has 11 municipalities. The reform diminished the power of the regional level dramatically in favor of the local level and the central government in Copenhagen. DSC Arminia Bielefeld (; full name: ; commonly known as Arminia Bielefeld (), also known as ''Die Arminen'' or ''Die Blauen'' ), or just Arminia (), is a German sports club from Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. Jacob Barrett Laursen (born 17 November 1994) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Swedish club BK Häcken. Club career Juventus signed Laursen in 2012 for €1 million from Aalborg BK. Thora Daugaard
Theodora (Thora) Frederikke Marie Daugaard (22 October 1874 – 28 June 1951) was a Danish women's rights activist, pacifist, editor and translator. In 1915, she attended the International Women's Conference in The Hague, together with Clara Tybjerg. Thereafter she established and later headed the Danske Kvinders Fredskæde or Danish Women's Peace Chain which became the Danish branch of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. She is also remembered for organizing assistance for Jews and their children in Nazi-occupied Denmark during the Second World War. Arden Railway Station (Denmark)
Arden railway station (previously ''Store-Arden railway station'') is a railway station serving the railway town of Arden in Himmerland, Denmark. The station is located on the Randers-Aalborg Line from Randers to Aalborg. It opened in 1869. The train services are currently operated by the railway company DSB. History The station opened in 1869 with the opening of the Randers-Aalborg railway line from Randers to Aalborg. The original villages in the area were ''Hesselholt'' a little west of the station, ''Store Arden'' a little east of the station and ''Lille Arden'' further east. After the opening of the railway line, a railway town quickly developed around the station. The name ''Arden'' for the railway town only arose later, and on maps of the town ''Arden'' was not used, ''Store Arden'' or ''Hesselholt'' being used instead.
