Magnum (band)
Magnum are an English hard rock band. They were formed in Birmingham by Tony Clarkin (guitar, songwriter) and Bob Catley (vocals) in order to appear as the resident band at the Rum Runner nightclub in the city. Magnum have undergone several changes in personnel over the years; however, the core of Catley and Clarkin remain. Magnum's most significant early success was '' Chase the Dragon'' in 1982, which reached number 17 in the UK Albums Chart. It included several songs that would become mainstays of the band's live set, notably "Soldier of the Line", "Sacred Hour" and "The Spirit". ''On a Storyteller's Night'' gave the band its breakthrough in Europe, and achieved a Gold certification in the United Kingdom. The band's 1986 album ''Vigilante'' represented a further move towards the mainstream before the band achieved their commercial peak in 1988 when they entered the UK Top Ten for the first time with the album ''Wings of Heaven'', which reached number five and featured three T ...

Sleepwalking (Magnum Album)
''Sleepwalking'' is the ninth studio album by the English rock band Magnum, released in 1992. Following the decision to leave Polydor, ''Sleepwalking'' was recorded within six months, and is the first self-produced album by Magnum since '' The Eleventh Hour''. Tony Clarkin was much happier acting as producer, following his working relationship with Keith Olsen on ''Goodnight L.A.''. Learning from Olsen, Clarkin had enough experience to produce Magnum's records on his own, this also being the best option to cut production costs for future albums. Clarkin and Catley commented that ''Sleepwalking'' represented a return to the classic Magnum style, as opposed to the previous album ''Goodnight L.A.'', which was produced with the American market in mind. The album got a mixed reception, with critics writing that the band was moving in the direction of pop rock. "Only in America" was released as a single, but following poor sales figures, the second single, "You're the One", was cancel ...

Kingdom Of Madness (Magnum Album)
''Kingdom of Madness'' is the debut studio album by the English rock band Magnum. It was recorded in 1976, and was released in 1978 by Jet Records. ''Kingdom of Madness'' was awarded a 4 star review in Sounds, with writer Geoff Barton suggesting the band were capable of making a strong claim for a slice of the market occupied by the likes of Styx, Kansas and Yes. The album was described as "flute-laced progressive rock sound similar to that of Jethro Tull. The songwriting ranges from imaginative, mythical tales on "In the Beginning" and the title song, to deeply philosophical tracks like "Universe" and "All That Is Real"." The album was also noted for its imaginative lyrics, with influence from Hawkwind member, Blue Öyster Cult lyricist and science fiction author Michael Moorcock, the songs "Lord of Chaos" and "Stormbringer" directly referencing Moorcock's '' Elric'' series. Prior to the release, Magnum had toured the UK extensively with the likes of Judas Priest and had ...

The Eleventh Hour (Magnum Album)
''The Eleventh Hour'' is the fourth studio album by English rock band Magnum, released in 1983 by Jet Records. The production of this album caused a lot of tension between the band and Jet Records, following the two-year delay to the previous album, '' Chase the Dragon'' in 1982 and their first album, '' Kingdom of Madness'', in 1978.Clarkin, Tony & Ling, David (2006). "Sleeve Notes" in ''The Eleventh Hour: Expanded Edition'' (pp. 2) D liner notes London: Sanctuary Records. These tensions were further strained when Jet Records denied the band a big name producer, leaving them to produce the album themselves. ''The Eleventh Hour!'' was released in May 1983, peaking at No. 38 in the UK charts, disappointing considering ''Chase the Dragon''s peak of No. 17 in 1982. ''The Eleventh Hour!s original title was to be ''Road to Paradise''. The 2005 expanded version of the album was reissued on 22 September 2006 in Japan with mini LP/paper sleeve packaging through Arcangelo. The album w ...

Albums Produced By Tony Clarkin
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78 rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl long-playing (LP) records played at   rpm. The album was the dominant form of recorded music expression and consumption from the mid-1960s to the early 21st century, a period known as the album era. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though album sales in the 21st-century have mostly focused on CD and MP3 formats. The 8-track tape was the first tape format widely used alongside vinyl from 1965 until being phased out by 1983 and was gradually supplanted by the cassette tape during the 1970s and early 1980s; the popularity of the cassette reached its peak during the late 1980s, sharply declined during the 1990s and had largely disappeared dur ...
