''Architectural Record'' is a US-based monthly magazine dedicated to architecture and interior design. "The Record," as it is sometimes colloquially referred to, is widely-recognized as an important historical record of the unfolding debates in architectural practice, history and criticism in the 20th-century United States. The magazine is currently published by BNP Media. Throughout its 125 years in print, ''Architectural Record'' has engaged readership among architecture, engineering, and design professionals through articles showcasing noteworthy architectural project around the world. News, commentary, criticism, and continuing-education sections outline the scope of content. Of note are the glossy, high-quality photos of featured projects, which makes the magazine wider readership outside of just those working in the design professions. Gelett Burgess
Frank Gelett Burgess (January 30, 1866 – September 18, 1951) was an American artist, art critic, poet, author and humorist. An important figure in the San Francisco Bay Area literary renaissance of the 1890s, particularly through his iconoclastic little magazine, ''The Lark'', he is best known as a writer of nonsense verse, such as " The Purple Cow," and for introducing French modern art to the United States in an essay titled "The Wild Men of Paris." He was the author of the popular Goops books, and he coined the term "blurb." Early life Born in Boston, Burgess was "raised among staid, conservative New England gentry". He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating with a B.S. in 1887. Jeanne Gang (born March 19, 1964) is an American architect and the founder and leader of Studio Gang (established in 1997), an architecture and urban design practice with offices in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. Gang was first widely recognized for the Aqua Tower, the tallest woman-designed building in the world at the time of its completion. Michel Rojkind (born December 18, 1969 in Mexico City) is the founding partner of Rojkind Arquitectos and according to Forbes Life a representative of a Mexican generation of architects transforming the country. His office was recognized by Architectural Record in 2005 as one of the best ten Design Vanguard firms. Early life Rojkind has two sisters and a brother. Evan Douglis is an American architect, scholar, and Dean of the Rensselaer School of Architecture at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Prior to his appointment as Dean of the School of Architecture he served as chair of the undergraduate program at Pratt Institute, an associate professor and the director of the architecture galleries at the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University, and a visiting instructor at The Irwin S.
