Architechs
Architechs is an English electronic music act which currently consists of Paul Akabah (Tre Lowe). Former members are Ashley Akabah and producer Kevin Williams (K-Warren). Architechs gained international attention in 1998 after producing a UK garage remix of Brandy and Monica's " The Boy Is Mine", selling over 40,000 copies of the bootleg. They also produced remixes of songs by several popular artists, including All Saints, Gabrielle, Faithless, Garbage, Beenie Man, Inaya Day and Jamelia. Several of their tracks have featured on the compilation series ''Pure Garage''. In 1999, K-Warren left the group to pursue a solo career. Ashley and Paul went on to remix for numerous artists, and collaborated with singer Nana (pronounced "neyney"), who features on both of the Architechs' commercially successful singles "Body Groove" and "Show Me the Money", as well as releasing a solo R&B record in 2005. Body Groove
"Body Groove" is the debut single of English UK garage group Architechs, featuring vocals from Nana. Released on 25 September 2000, the song was a success, peaking at number three on the UK Singles Chart and becoming a moderate hit in Belgium, Iceland, and the Netherlands. In 2019, DJ Spoony together with Katie Chatburn and the Ignition Orchestra featuring Nay Nay and Ms Banks on vocals recorded an orchestral version of the song for the UK garage covers album ''Garage Classical''. In 2020, Dizzee Rascal sampled the intro of "Body Groove" throughout his song "Body Loose". UK Garage
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop, R&B, and jungle. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms. Garage tracks also commonly feature 'chopped up' and time-stretched or pitch-shifted vocal samples complementing the underlying rhythmic structure at a tempo usually around 130 BPM. UK garage encompassed subgenres such as speed garage and 2-step, and was then largely subsumed into other styles of music and production in the mid-2000s, including bassline, grime, and dubstep. K-Warren
K-Warren (born Kevin Warren Williams in 1974) is a UK garage producer. He is a former member of the group Architechs, known for their UK garage remix of Brandy and Monica's " The Boy Is Mine" (1998). K-Warren's best-known releases are " Coming Home", Richie Dan's "Call It Fate" (as producer) and his mix of Ed Case's "Something in Your Eyes". "The Boy Is Mine" is a 1998 duet by American singers Brandy and Monica. It was written by LaShawn Daniels, Japhe Tejeda, Fred Jerkins III, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, and Brandy, while production was helmed by Jerkins, Brandy, and Dallas Austin. The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. It is one of the three official charts, the other two being the Dutch Top 40 and the Mega Top 30. The difference is that these charts also include airplay data. The Irish Singles Chart is the Republic of Ireland's music industry standard singles popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) and compiled on their behalf by the Official Charts Company. Chart rankings are based on sales, which are compiled through over-the-counter retail data captured electronically each day from retailers' EPOS systems. All major record shops, digital retailers and streaming services contribute to the chart, accounting for over 95% of the market. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France.
