Archie Turner
Arthur "Archie" Turner (June 1877 – 4 April 1925) was a professional footballer who played at outside-right in the 1900 and 1902 FA Cup Finals for Southampton, and made two appearances for England. Playing career Archie Turner was born in Hartley Wintney and began his professional career with Aldershot North End, before playing for South Farnborough and St. Michael's, Camberley. He had trials with Brentford and Reading before he was snapped up in May 1899 by Southampton who had just claimed the Southern League championship for the third consecutive year. In his first season at The Dell, Saints only managed third place in the league, but reached the FA cup final for the first time in their history. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. The competition is open to all eligible clubs down to Level 9 of the English football league system with Level 10 clubs acting as stand-ins in the event of non-entries from above. Harry Turner (footballer)
Harry Turner (19 June 1882 – 14 April 1967) was an English professional footballer who played as an outside forward for Southampton in the 1900s. Football career Turner was born in Farnborough, Hampshire, the younger brother of Archie Turner (1877–1925), who played for Southampton from 1899 to 1902, and also made two appearances for England. He first played for his local side at South Farnborough, from where he was invited to The Dell for a trial in April 1900. He eventually signed for Southampton in late 1903. He made his debut for "the Saints" on Boxing Day 1903, when he replaced the injured Dick Evans in a 1–0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. For the remainder of the season, he vied with his unrelated namesake, Joe Turner for the outside-right position, making ten appearances, scoring twice. Charles Webb (footballer)
Charles Webb (4 March 1879 – January 1939) was an English footballer who played at outside left for various clubs in England and Scotland in the 1900s. Football career Webb was born in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire and trained as a harness-maker. After playing football for his village team, he joined Rushden of the Midland League in 1898. After two seasons with Rushden, in 1900 he moved to Kettering who had just been admitted to the Southern League as Midland League champions. Kettering finished their inaugural season in the Southern League 11th in the table. In the FA Cup, Kettering defeated Chesterfield of the Football League Second Division in the first round, with Webb scoring both Kettering goals in the replay (won 2–1 aet), only to be defeated 5–0 in the next round by Middlesbrough. Steve Bloomer
Stephen Bloomer (20 January 1874 – 16 April 1938) was an England international footballer and manager who played for Derby County – becoming their record goalscorer – and Middlesbrough. The anthem " Steve Bloomer's Watchin'" is played at every Derby home game and there is a bust of him at the Pride Park Stadium. He is also listed in the Football League 100 Legends and English Football Hall of Fame. During his career, Bloomer was a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. A quick thinking forward, he was able to shoot powerfully and accurately with either foot and his speciality was the ''daisy cutter'' – a low shot, hit with great power, speed and accuracy. In 535 First Division games he scored 314 goals and, after Jimmy Greaves, he is the second highest all-time goalscorer in the top-flight of English football. Edgar Chadwick
Edgar Wallace Chadwick (14 June 1869 – 14 February 1942) was a left-sided footballer who had a long and distinguished career with Everton during the 1890s. He was also the national coach for the Netherlands from 1908 to 1913. His cousin, Arthur Chadwick, also played for England and Southampton, while another cousin, Albert Chadwick, played for Everton.
