Archery At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Individual
The men's individual archery competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from 27 July to 3 August at Lord's Cricket Ground. Oh Jin-Hyek of South Korea won the gold medal, followed by Takaharu Furukawa from Japan with silver and Dai Xiaoxiang, representing China, with the bronze. Competition format The competitors were ranked 1st to 64th based on their ranking round results and seeded into a head-to-head knock-out bracket based on this ranking. The 2012 Olympics introduced a new format for the knockout rounds. Each head-to-head match was a best-of-five sets match where each competitor shoots three arrows per set. Competitors received two points for winning the set and one point for a draw with the first competitor to reach six points winning the match. Lord's Cricket Ground
Lord's Cricket Ground, commonly known as Lord's, is a cricket venue in St John's Wood, London. Named after its founder, Thomas Lord, it is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and is the home of Middlesex County Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the European Cricket Council (ECC) and, until August 2005, the International Cricket Council (ICC). Im Dong-Hyun
Im Dong-hyun (; ; born 12 May 1986) is a South Korean archer. He competes for the South Korean national team and is a former world number one. He has 20/200 vision in his left eye and 20/100 vision in his right eye, meaning he needs to be 10 times closer to see objects clearly with his left eye, compared to someone with perfect vision. Career 2004 Summer Olympics At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Im set a world record in the 72 arrow men's individual ranking round, with a score of 687 (it was not recognized by the International Olympic Committee as an Olympic record, however, as the ranking round took place on 12 August, before the 2004 opening ceremony). Xing Yu (; born 12 March 1991, in Beijing, China) is a Chinese archer. At the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics he competed for his country in the Men's individual and team events. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he finished reached the second round of the men's individual, where he lost to Khairul Anuar Mohamad. Jacob Wukie
Jacob Wukie (born May 11, 1986, in Massillon, Ohio) is an American archer. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed for his country in the Men's team event and the men's individual event. He won a silver Olympic medal along with his teammates Brady Ellison and Jake Kaminski. In the individual event he finished 12th in the ranking round, before eliminating Jayanta Talukdar in the first round. He was himself then knocked out by Bård Nesteng. Mauro Nespoli (born 22 November 1987, in Voghera) is an Italian archer who was a member of the Italian teams that won gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics and silver at the 2008 Summer Olympics. and individual silver at Tokyo 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. He is currently a Resident Athlete at the United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. He holds the record for the longest continuous period as the world number-one-ranked men's recurve archer, from August 2011 to April 2013. He earned his nickname "The Prospector" during the 2015 world championships due to his proclivity for 'finding gold'. Crispin Natanie Duenas (born January 5, 1986) is a Filipino-Canadian recurve archer who represented Canada at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Laurence Paul Godfrey (born 9 June 1976, in Bristol) is a British archer. He studied for an HND in Mechanical Manufacturing at the University of the West of England from 1997 to 2000. 2004 Summer Olympics Godfrey was the only British male to qualify for the men's tournament at Athens 2004.
