Archer On The Beach
''Archer on the Beach'' is an EP by Destroyer (band), Destroyer released in November 2010, on 12" Vinyl. Both of these tracks are true collaborations, with Dan Bejar writing and performing the vocals, and Tim Hecker and Loscil writing the music on Archer on the Beach and Grief Point, respectively. Grief Point is spoken word by Dan Bejar, complemented by Loscil's ambient music. An alternate version of "Archer on the Beach" appears on Destroyer's 2015 album ''Poison Season''. Destroyer (band)
Destroyer is a Canadian indie rock band from Vancouver, formed in 1995. The band is fronted by founding member Dan Bejar, with a collective of regular band members and collaborators joining him in the studio and during live performances. Alongside Bejar, Destroyer currently includes longtime producers John Collins (bass) and David Carswell (guitar), Nicolas Bragg (lead guitar), Ted Bois (keyboards), JP Carter (trumpet) and Joshua Wells (drums). The band's discography draws on a variety of musical influences, resulting in albums that can sound markedly distinct from one another; in Bejar's words, "That's kind of my goal: to start from scratch every time." Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Bay of Pigs is an EP by Destroyer released on August 19, 2009, on 12" vinyl. Musical style ''Pitchfork'' described "Bay of Pigs" as starting with "one synth wash over another ... and a little spanish guitar" before turning into a lite-disco style song with "an improbably shimmering guitar" and a "clockwork rhythm". Kaputt (album)
''Kaputt'' is the ninth album by Canadian indie rock band Destroyer. It was released on January 25, 2011 by Merge Records and Dead Oceans Records. The album was leaked towards the end of 2010. The vinyl edition of the album features bonus material on side three written largely by frequent Destroyer collaborator Ted Bois. This material is also included in the European CD version of the album credited as 'The Laziest River'. The album was named as a shortlisted (one of 10) nominee for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize award. Reception ''Kaputt'' received widespread acclaim from music critics upon its release. Tim Hecker is a Canadian electronic musician, producer, composer, and sound artist. Loscil
Loscil is the electronic/ ambient music project of Scott Morgan from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Morgan launched the project in Vancouver in 1998 while a member of the multimedia collective Multiplex, which curated audiovisual events at an underground cinema called The Blinding Light. The name Loscil is taken from the "looping oscillator" function (loscil) in Csound. Morgan was also the drummer for the Vancouver indie band Destroyer. As Loscil, he has also produced numerous special projects, remixes, and collaborations with other musicians, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Murcof/Vanessa Wagner, Sarah Neufeld, Daniel Bejar, bvdub, Rachel Grimes, and Kelly Wyse. Dan Bejar
Daniel Bejar (; born October 4, 1972) is a Canadian singer and musician from Vancouver, British Columbia. He is the frontman of Destroyer, and is a member of indie rock band the New Pornographers. Overview In 2006, he joined with Carey Mercer of Frog Eyes and Spencer Krug of Sunset Rubdown and Wolf Parade as part of indie supergroup Swan Lake. He has also collaborated with his wife Sydney Hermant as the duo Hello, Blue Roses, whose debut album was released in 2008. Personal life Bejar was born in 1972 to a Spanish father and an American mother at Vancouver General Hospital. ''Poison Season'' is the tenth studio album by Canadian indie rock band Destroyer, released on August 28, 2015 by Merge Records and Dead Oceans Records. Release The first song released from ''Poison Season'', "Dream Lover", was posted on SoundCloud on May 21, 2015. The album's release date, track list, and artwork were announced the same day. A second song from ''Poison Season'', "Girl in a Sling", was released online on July 8, 2015. On the same day, the music video for "Girl in a Sling", directed by David Galloway, was released. The video cuts back and forth between shots of Bejar, who's working in a darkroom and singing in the shadows, and residential areas in decay.
