Darin Archbold
Darin Archbold (born July 11, 1969) is an American former basketball player. Archbold was named Midwestern Collegiate Conference Player of the Year in 1991. Archbold joined the Butler Bulldogs beginning the 1988–89 season after graduating from and playing basketball and football at Norwell High School in Ossian, Indiana, where he still holds the records for career points, career rebounds, and season points. College A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Bulldogs, Archbold led Butler in scoring for three consecutive seasons and sits in fourth place on Butler's all-time scoring list with 1,744 career points. He set a Butler single season scoring record with 770 points in 1991–92, and he continues to hold Butler's all-time record for three-point field goal shooting (.465). Eoghan McDermott (born 15 April 1983) is an Irish television and radio presenter. He most recently presented ''The RTÉ 2fm Breakfast Show'' on radio and has hosted ''The Voice of Ireland'' and Ireland's Junior Eurovision Song Contest selection shows on television. Ralph Archbold (January 17, 1942 – March 25, 2017) was a Philadelphia-area actor and speaker best known for his long-time impersonation of U.S. Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. Franklin impersonation Archbold began impersonating Franklin in 1973 for a local summer production in Dearborn, Michigan. He enjoyed the role so much he read over 200 of Franklin's books, and realized that he was born on Franklin's birthday, January 17. He began performing at schools full-time, and in 1981 moved to Philadelphia to continue his impersonation in Franklin's home city where demand was higher. He gave frequent speeches for company meetings, and was regularly seen sitting on a park bench in Franklin Court. He was declared the official Benjamin Franklin for the city of Philadelphia, and was awarded ''Philadelphia'' magazine's Best of Philly Award. Richard Archbold
Richard Archbold (April 9, 1907 – August 1, 1976) was an American zoologist and philanthropist. He was independently wealthy, being the grandson of the capitalist John Dustin Archbold. He was educated at private schools, and later attended classes at Columbia University though he never graduated. He used his share of his family's wealth first to sponsor a series of biological expeditions to New Guinea for the American Museum of Natural History, and later to establish, maintain and endow a biological research station in Florida. In 1929, Archbold joined the ranks of members of the Explorers Club in New York. Shane William Archbold (born 2 February 1989) is a New Zealand professional racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Timaru, Archbold competed in the men's omnium at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and won the gold medal in the men's scratch race at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, along with bronze in the men's team pursuit. He was named in the start list for the 2016 Tour de France. During the 2016 Tour de France Shane crashed early on in the 17th stage and broke his pelvis but he struggled on to finish the stage. Thomas Archbold, or Thomas Galmole (died after 1506) was a goldsmith and silver worker, who evidently qualified as a lawyer, and rose to become a senior Crown official and judge in Ireland in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. Archbold is a village in Fulton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,346 at the 2010 census. Archbold is home to Northwest State Community College. It was designated a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation in 1983. History Archbold was founded in 1855 when the railroad was extended to that point. Archbold Biological Station
The Archbold Biological Station (ABS) is a research institute with a surrounding estate near Lake Placid, Florida, USA. It includes an extensive area of Florida scrub, a scientifically interesting and highly threatened ecosystem. It was established in 1941 by Richard Archbold when his sponsorship of zoological research in New Guinea was curtailed by the outbreak of the Second World War in the Pacific region. The Station supports 19 federally listed threatened species, including the Sand Skink ('' Neoseps reynoldsi'') and 13 endemic plant species. It is a venue for field research and education, as well as ranching. The station and grounds are open to visitors, who must register at the main office.
