Arcadia Shepherds are a South African association football club based in Arcadia, Pretoria. It is affiliated with the Football Association of Pretoria (FAP). History The club was founded in 1903, and was briefly renamed ''Arcadia United'' in the seasons from 1963–68, following a merger with ISCOR Pretoria. Arcadia Shepherds experienced their most successful season in 1974, where they won "the triple": NFL Championship, Castle Cup and the NFL UTC Bowl Cup. The next three big achievements by the club, was when they won the NPSL League Cup Competition in 1982, after an exciting final against Highlands Park; then a victory in the NPSL Sales House Cup in 1985 as Arcadia Fluoride, beating Kaizer Chiefs in the final; and next year in 1986 they won the BP Top Eight Cup, beating Bidvest Wits in the final. Caledonian Stadium (South Africa)
Caledonian Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. It is currently used mostly for football matches, and is the home venue of Arcadia Shepherds. Katlego Mphela
Katlego Abel Mphela (born 29 November 1984) is a South African retired professional footballer who played as a forward. Club career Mphela, a product of Jomo Cosmos, played in France for RC Strasbourg Alsace and Stade de Reims, both with limited success. After returning home he turned out for SuperSport United for the 2007–08 season before joining Mamelodi Sundowns the following season. He then finished the 2009–10 season with 17 goals in 30 games which made him the league's top goalscorer. He won the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot and was voted PSL Players' Player of the Season. Mphela joined Chiefs in 2014. He made his debut in a 2–2 draw against Maritzburg United. He scored his first goal for Chiefs against Free State Stars but it was cancelled out almost immediately in a 1–1 draw. Bongani Sandile Khumalo (born 6 January 1987) is a Liswati-born retired South African footballer who last played as a centre-back for Bidvest Wits and the South Africa national team. Early life Khumalo was born in Manzini but relocated to Pretoria, South Africa during his infancy. There, his late father was a language lecturer at the University of South Africa and his mother was a teacher. During his time in Pretoria, Khumalo studied towards a degree at the University of Pretoria while embarking on a professional football career. He later had to put his studies on hold, however, following a move to England. MTN 8 is the current branding for a South African soccer cup competition launched in 1972 for teams who finished in the top 8 positions of the league table of the country's preceding top-flight league (currently the DStv Premiership) season. The winners receive R 8 million and the competition's trophy, which is one of the three domestic trophies attainable by its competitors each soccer season, with the other two being the top-flight league title and the country's premier knock-out competition, the Nedbank Cup.
