ArcaBoard
ArcaBoard is an electric commercial hoverboard developed by ARCA Space Corporation. It is powered by 36 electric ducted fans In aeronautics, a ducted fan is a thrust-generating mechanical fan or propeller mounted within a cylindrical duct or shroud. Other terms include ducted propeller or shrouded propeller. When used in vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) applicatio ..., capable of transporting a person weighing up to 110 kg (243 lbs), and has an endurance of up to 6 minutes. It was designed for entertainment and personal recreation purpose. ARCA first unveiled their product on 24 December 2015 and announced that it was available for purchase. Design The hoverboard is 145 cm long and 76 cm wide, is made of aerospace grade composite materials and weighs up to 82 kg, depending on the version. It is equipped with 36 high power electric ducted fans that spin at 45,000 rotations per minute and generate up to 272 hp. There are two versions available for purchase: Enhanced Thrust Ve ...

Hoverboard
A hoverboard (or hover board) is a levitating board used for personal transportation, first described in science-fiction, and made famous by the appearance of a skateboard-like hoverboard in the film ''Back to the Future Part II''. Many attempts have been made to invent a functioning hoverboard. In fiction Hoverboards were first described by author M. K. Joseph in a 1967 science fiction novel. In 1984, a hoverboard appeared in the shoot 'em up arcade video game ''SWAT'', developed by Coreland and distributed by Sega in Japan and Bally Midway in North America. The hoverboard was popularized by the ''Back to the Future'' film franchise, with its appearance in ''Back to the Future Part II'' (1989). During the 1990s there were rumors, fueled by the film's director Robert Zemeckis, that hoverboards were in fact real, but not marketed because they were deemed too dangerous by parents' groups. These rumors have been conclusively debunked. Hoverboards have appeared in various other med ...

ARCA Space Corporation
Romanian Cosmonautics and Aeronautics Association ( ro, Asociația Română pentru Cosmonautică și Aeronautică), also known as ARCAspace, is an aerospace company based in Râmnicu Vâlcea, Romania. It builds rockets, high-altitude balloons, and unmanned aerial vehicles. It was founded in 1999 as a non-governmental organization in Romania by the Romanian engineer and entrepreneur Dumitru Popescu and other rocket and aeronautics enthusiasts. Since then, ARCA has launched two stratospheric rockets, four large scale stratospheric balloons including a cluster balloon and was awarded two governmental contracts with the Romanian government and one contract with the European Space Agency. ARCASpace is currently developing a three-stage, semi-reusable steam-powered rocket called EcoRocket and in 2022 has shifted its business model to Asteroid mining. History 1999–2004: Demonstrator rocket family ARCA was established as ''Romanian Cosmonautics and Aeronautics Association'' ...

Ducted Fans
In aeronautics, a ducted fan is a thrust-generating mechanical fan or propeller mounted within a cylindrical duct or shroud. Other terms include ducted propeller or shrouded propeller. When used in vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) applications it is also known as a shrouded rotor.Kotwani, Kailash;Ducted Fan or Shrouded Rotor Aerodynamics and its Application in Miniature VTOL Aerial Vehicles, 2009. (retrieved 22 March 2022). Ducted fans are used for propulsion or direct lift in many types of vehicle including aeroplanes, airships, hovercraft, and powered lift VTOL aircraft. The high-bypass turbofan engines used on many modern airliners is an example of a very successful and popular use of ducted fan design. The duct increases thrust efficiency by up to 90% in some cases, in comparison to a similar-sized propeller in free air. Ducted fans are quieter, and offer good opportunities for thrust vectoring. The shroud offers good protection to ground personnel from accidentally cont ...
