Aranyaprathet
Aranyaprathet (Thai: อรัญประเทศ) is a town (''thesaban mueang'') in Sa Kaeo province in eastern Thailand . It covers the entire ''tambon'' of Aranyaprathet, in Aranyaprathet district. As of 2005, the town has 16,937 inhabitants. It is located just from the border with Cambodia; the town of Poipet is on the other side of the border. On the Thai side of the border is the huge Rongkluea market. Cambodian people cross the border daily with pushcarts and scooters with side cars loaded with their products. A significant part of the trade is in second hand clothes. Just over the border on the Cambodian side there are casinos. These are visited by many Thai people because gambling is prohibited in Thailand. Special free buses run between Bangkok and these casinos. Aranyaprathet District
Aranyaprathet ( th, อรัญประเทศ, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in Sa Kaeo province in Thailand. It borders Cambodia to the east. History Aranyaprathet was originally a district in the Kabin Buri Province. On 1 April 1926 the province was abolished and the two districts Mueang Kabin Buri and Aranyapathet became districts of Prachinburi province. In 1993 it was one of the districts that formed the new Sa Kaeo province. Economy Until the Khmer Rouge disrupted neighbouring Cambodia in 1975, Aranyaprathet was a stop on the railroad connecting Bangkok with the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. Aranyaprathet maintains its rail link with Bangkok but Poipet, the neighbouring Cambodian town, has still yet to see any rail activity since the Khmer Rouge destroyed the track. Ban Klong Luk Border railway station ( th, สถานีรถไฟด่านพรมแดนบ้านคลองลึก) is a railway station in Thailand and is the last stop of the Aranyaprathet Main Line of the Eastern Line located in Thailand, before entering Cambodia. It is located in Aranyaprathet Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province on the border between Thailand and Cambodia. Ban Klong Luk Border railway station is classified as a third class railway station. It is 260.23 km (161 mi) from Hua Lamphong (Bangkok railway station) and located on the south side of Rong Kluea Market, the largest retail and wholesale second-hand clothing market in the eastern Thailand. Aranyaprathet railway station ( th, สถานีอรัญประเทศ) is a railway station located in Aranyaprathet Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo, Thailand. The station is a class 1 railway station located from Bangkok railway station. Aranyaprathet Railway Station opened in as part of the Eastern Line Kabin Buri–Aranyaprathet section. Sa Kaeo Province
Sa Kaeo ( th, สระแก้ว, ) is one of the 76 provinces (''changwat'') and lies in eastern Thailand about 200 km from Bangkok. Neighboring provinces are (from south clockwise) Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, Prachinburi, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Buriram. To the east it borders Banteay Meanchey and Battambang of Cambodia. Poipet
Poipet ( km, ប៉ោយប៉ែត, ) is a boomtown on the Cambodian-Thai border, in Poipet Municipality, Banteay Meanchey Province. It is a key crossing point between the two countries, and also extremely popular as a gambling destination as gambling is popular, but illegal in Thailand. Poipet is adjacent to the town of Aranyaprathet on the Thai side of the border, the town came into existence only quite recently for the express purpose of border trade, Sisophon had always been the primary urban center in what had been an agricultural area. Poipet's population has increased from 43,366 in the 1998 census to 89,549 in the 2008 census, making it the 4th most populous settlement in Cambodia just ahead of Sihanoukville and larger than its provincial capital Sisophon.
