Arandel
Arandel is a French musical project. The album ''In D'' (a nod to Terry Riley ''In C'' album) lays the foundations of a dogma only allowing music instruments use and banning samplers and other MIDI devices. Encouraging the concept of a creator's vanishing behind its creation, Arandel is an anonymous project, which members and actual composition remain unknown. To that end, any representation or identification of its contributors is prohibited, especially live photographs and videos. Anecdotes * Arandel means "swallow" in Haute-Savoie regional dialect. * An Arandel live version, whose composition is always moving, is currently touring. The first show took place on August 2010 during âLa Carrière Soirs d’ÉtĂ©€ť festival. InFiné
InFiné is a French record label directed by Alexandre Cazac and Yannick Matray. Coming from electronic music, the label usually goes off the beaten path, from classical music to ambient, through club or pop music. History The idea of the label InFiné came true in February 2005 when Alexandre Cazac attends a concert by Francesco Tristano at Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris. The pianist covered "Strings of Life", a founding track of Detroit techno music, produced by Derrick May. Officially, the label is born in January 2006 when Sebastien Devaud and Yannick Matray join Alexandre Cazac. Their first release is indeed the track "Strings of Life" interpreted by Francesco Tristano, with remixes from the German producers Apparat and Kiki. Terry Riley
Terrence Mitchell "Terry" Riley (born June 24, 1935) is an American composer and performing musician best known as a pioneer of the minimalist school of composition. Influenced by jazz and Indian classical music, his music became notable for its innovative use of repetition, tape music techniques, and delay systems. His best known works are the 1964 composition '' In C'' and the 1969 LP ''A Rainbow in Curved Air'', both considered landmarks of minimalism and important influences on experimental music, rock, and contemporary electronic music. Raised in California, Riley began studying composition and performing solo piano in the 1950s. He befriended and collaborated with composer La Monte Young, and later became involved with the San Francisco Tape Music Center. A three-record deal with CBS in the late 1960s, resulting in an LP recording of ''In C'' (1968) and ''A Rainbow in Curved Air'' (1969), brought his work to wider audiences. Georges Perec (; 7 March 1936 – 3 March 1982) was a French novelist, filmmaker, documentalist, and essayist. He was a member of the Oulipo group. His father died as a soldier early in the Second World War and his mother was killed in the Holocaust. Many of his works deal with absence, loss, and identity, often through word play. Early life Born in a working-class district of Paris, Perec was the only son of Icek Judko and Cyrla (Schulewicz) Peretz, Polish Jews who had emigrated to France in the 1920s.
