Aram Nalbandyan
Aram Bagrati "Bagratovich" Nalbandyan ( hy, Արամ Բագրատի Նալբանդյան, January 1, 1908 – January 24, 1987) was a Soviet and Armenian physicist, prominent in the field of physical chemistry, founder of the Institute of Chemical Physics in Yerevan, Armenia, and academician-secretary of the Chemical Department of the Armenian Academy of Sciences (AS). He is the author of more than 400 scientific articles and five monographs. Biography Aram Nalbandyan was born in Karakilisa (now Vanadzor). He lost his father at an early age. His grandfather, a farrier, raised him, implanting a love for work and appreciation for nature. Nalbandyan received his general education at the local school. After school in Karaklise, Nalbandyan started his education in the Department of Physics and Mathematics of Pedagogical Faculty of the Yerevan State University. Vanadzor
Vanadzor ( hy, Վանաձոր) is an urban municipal community and the third-largest city in Armenia, serving as the capital of Lori Province in the northern part of the country. It is located about north of the capital Yerevan. As of the 2011 census, the city had a population of 86,199, down from 148,876 reported at the 1979 official census. Currently, the town has a population of approximately 76,200. Vanadzor is the seat of the Diocese of Gougark of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Etymology Vanadzor was previously known as ''Gharakilisa'' (), meaning "black church" in Turkic. In the official records of the Russian Empire, the city was labelled as ''Karakilis Bolshoye'' ().
