Ara Abramyan
Ara Abrahamyan (russian: Ара Аршавирович Абрамян; born 15 April 1957 in Malishka, Yeghegnadzor District, Armenia) ( hy, Արա Աբրահամյան) is a prominent philanthropist, social activist, and businessmen. He was born in Malishka, a village in Vayots Dzor Region, Armenia, in a family of physicians. He attended Yerevan State Agricultural University and gained a degree in economics. Career He started his career path as an engineer in “Neuron” Industrial enterprise growing to the General Manager of the company. In 1989, he was appointed the Deputy Head of the Department at the USSR Ministry of Electronic Industry. Benevolence dining hall “Arshavir and Baidzar Abrahamyan” opened in Yerevan in 2001. The World Armenian Congress ( hy, Համաշխարհային հայկական կոնգրես), also known as the Congress of World Armenian Organizations, is an international union of Armenian public organizations. History The World Armenian Congress (WAC) was founded in October 2003 as a union for Armenian NGO's, and has since reached an international status. The WAC headquarters are located in Yerevan.
