Apple Springs Independent School District is a public school district based in Apple Springs, Texas, Apple Springs, Texas (United States, USA). Finances As of the 2010–11 school year, the appraised valuation of property in the district was $29,249,000. The maintenance tax rate was $0.104 and the bond tax rate was $0.000 per $100 of appraised valuation. History The district changed to a four day school week in fall 2021. Apple Springs, Texas
Apple Springs is a small unincorporated community in Trinity County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 185 in 2000. It is located within the Huntsville, Texas micropolitan area. History The town was founded shortly after the Civil War as May Apple Springs. The community took its name from a nearby spring where May apples grew. A post office has been in operation at Apple Springs since 1884. The community moved to the location of the Groveton, Lufkin and Northern Railway when a track was built between Groveton and Vair. Apple Springs had 75 residents during World War I and had three general stores, a gin, a bank, and a cafe. The railroad was abandoned in 1931 and the community moved to State Highway 94. In the mid-1930s, Apple Springs had 12 businesses and 150 residents. Hudson Independent School District is a public school district based in Hudson, Texas (USA). In 2009, the school district was rated " recognized" by the Texas Education Agency. History The current Hudson school began as the traditional "one-room schoolhouse" in 1880. After several moves, it relocated to its current location in 1928. That same year, the Hudson, Narroway, and Bethlehem districts voted to consolidate into the Hudson Consolidated Common School District, and the Chancy Switch district was later annexed into the district that same year. Six-man Football
Six-man football is a variant of gridiron football played with six players per team, instead of the standard 11 or 12. It is generally played by high schools in rural areas of the United States and Canada. History Six-man football was developed in 1934 by Stephen Epler in Chester, Nebraska, as an alternative means for small high schools to field a football team during the Great Depression. The first game was played on Thursday, September 27, 1934, at the Hebron, Nebraska Athletic Gridiron, under the lights, with a crowd of almost 1000 watching. This game was played so that coaches all over Kansas and Nebraska could see if they wanted to try this new game of six-man.
