Apparatus (band)
Apparatus was an electro-industrial band based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The trio comprised vocalist Blake Barnes, guitarist Scott Morgan (as Sid) and keyboardist David York (as D. York). They released a sole full-length self-titled album in 1995 before disbanding. History Apparatus was formed in Charlotte, North Carolina, by Blake Barnes, David York, and Scott Morgan. Their melding of guitar, electronics and hip hop beats earned them comparisons to Nine Inch Nails and KMFDM. The band caught the attention of Re-Constriction Records and were signed in 1995. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1995. "Hell's Home" and "Slave Or Prayer" were made in collaboration with industrial rock producer Lee Popa. Re-Constriction Records
Re-Constriction Records was a division of Cargo Music based in California. The label was founded in 1992 and headed by Chase, who was previously the Music Director at KCR, a student radio station on the campus of San Diego State University. They specialized in releasing bands belonging to the industrial, aggrotech and EBM genres. After the label folded, Chase went to work for Access Communications where he worked for 14 years doing video game-related public relations, including helping to launch Twitch in 2011. In May 2013, he took a staff job at Twitch overseeing all of their PR efforts. In 2019, he left Twitch and shortly thereafter joined StreamElements. History Chase contacted Belgium-based industrial label KK Records, a division of Cargo Music, to arrange for product servicing for the station which led to him getting a job with Cargo. Liquid Sex Decay was an electro-industrial band based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The duo was created by keyboardist David York (as D. York) and guitarist Scott Morgan (as Sid), who were formerly in the band Apparatus. They debuted with their only full-length studio album Liquid Sex Decay in 1997 before disbanding. History Liquid Sex Decay was formed by musicians Scott Morgan and David York from the band Apparatus, which dissolved in 1995. The band issued their self-titled debut album in 1997 on MJ-12 Records and critics considered the album a direct follow-up to 1995's '' Apparatus''. ''Apparatus'' is the eponymously titled and only album by Apparatus, released on August 1, 1995, by Re-Constriction Records. Promotional music videos were filmed for the songs " Come Alive" and " Hell's Home". After the album's publication the trio disbanded, with keyboardist David York and guitarist Scott Morgan forming the band Liquid Sex Decay later. Reception ''Aiding & Abetting'' praised Apparatus for their aggressive sound, saying the band "has put together a wild ride that massages both the club folks and metal freaks." Nine Inch Nails, commonly abbreviated as NIN and stylized as NIИ, is an American industrial rock band formed in Cleveland in 1988. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Trent Reznor was the only permanent member of the band until his frequent collaborator, Atticus Ross, joined in 2016. The band's debut album, ''Pretty Hate Machine'' (1989), was released via TVT Records. KMFDM
KMFDM (originally Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid, loosely translated by the band as "no pity for the majority") is a multinational industrial band from Hamburg led by Sascha Konietzko, who founded the band in 1984 as a performance art project. The band's earliest incarnation included German drummer En Esch and British vocalist Raymond Watts, the latter of whom left and rejoined the group several times over its history. The trio recorded the band's earliest albums in Germany before Konietzko and Esch moved to the United States, where they found much greater success with seminal industrial record label Wax Trax!. German guitarist Günter Schulz joined in 1990; both he and Esch continued with the band until KMFDM broke up in 1999.
