Apostolic Nunciature To The Nordic Countries
The Holy See established what has evolved into its Apostolic Nunciature to the Nordic Countries on 16 March 1960 under the title Apostolic Delegation to Scandinavia with responsibility for representing the interests of the pope and the Catholic Church in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. It was originally located in Vedbæk, Denmark; since 2002 its office has been in Djursholm, Sweden, a suburb of Stockholm. The Holy See now has diplomatic relations with each of those countries and the Holy See appoints a nuncio, to date always the same person, to each of them. The representative of the Holy See holds an ecclesiastical office, but the title varies according to the office's relationship to governments. The original title "Delegate" is used for an envoy whose relationship to the government has not received diplomatic statues. The Holy See ( lat, Sancta Sedes, ; it, Santa Sede ), also called the See of Rome, Petrine See or Apostolic See, is the jurisdiction of the Pope in his role as the bishop of Rome. It includes the apostolic episcopal see of the Diocese of Rome, which has ecclesiastical jurisdiction over the Catholic Church and the sovereign city-state known as the Vatican City. According to Catholic tradition it was founded in the first century by Saints Peter and Paul and, by virtue of Petrine and papal primacy, is the focal point of full communion for Catholic Christians around the world. Emil Paul Tscherrig
Emil Paul Tscherrig (born 3 February 1947) is a Swiss prelate of the Catholic Church who has spent his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He became an archbishop in 1996 and has since held assignments as Apostolic Nuncio to several countries, most recently to Italy and San Marino. Biography He was born in Unterems on 3 February 1947, the eldest of eight children. He was ordained a priest on 11 April 1974 for the Diocese of Sion. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1978. In addition to overseas assignments, he also worked in Rome in the Secretariat of State from 1985 to 1996, assisting in preparations for Pope John Paul's international trips. On 4 May 1996, Pope John Paul II named him titular archbishop of Voli and appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to Burundi. He received his episcopal consecration from Cardinal Angelo Sodano on 27 June. Julio Murat
Julio Murat (born on 18 August 1961 in Izmir, Turkey) is a Turkish prelate of the Catholic Church who works in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Julio Murat began his preparation for the priesthood in Rome, where on 25 May 1986 he was ordained a priest by the hands of Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and was incardinated into the Archdiocese of Izmir. After his ordination he continued his education studying canon law at the Pontifical Urban University. In 1991 Murat concluded his law studies, with his doctoral dissertation "I diritti soggettivi della buona fama e dell'intimita codificati nel Canone 220".
