Apostolic Nunciature To Guatemala
The Apostolic Nunciature to Guatemala is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Guatemala. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. The nuncio resides in Guatemala City. The Holy See used a delegate—a member of its diplomatic corps not granted official status by their host country—to represent its interests to church officials, civil society, and the government. The Holy See and the government of Guatemala established diplomatic relations and Pope Pius XI created the Nunciature to Guatemala on 15 March 1936. Bruno Torpigliani
Bruno Torpigliani (15 April 1915 – 2 May 1995) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He was made an archbishop in 1964 and served as Apostolic Nuncio to several countries, including the Philippines for 17 years. Biography Bruno Torpigliani was born in the town of Montecontieri outside Asciano, Italy, on 15 April 1915 to Francesco Torpigliani and Laura Landi. Francisco Montecillo Padilla (born 17 September 1953) is a Philippine prelate of the Catholic Church who has worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See since 1985. Emanuele Gerada KC*HS (18 May 1920 – 21 January 2011) was a Maltese prelate of the Roman Catholic Church, a Vatican diplomat and titular Archbishop of Nomentum. One Maltese obituary recalled him as "a generous, well-read and intelligent man." Biography Gerada was born in Malta and ordained a priest on 1 August 1943 for the Archdiocese of Malta. He studied in Rome for a doctorate in canon law and joined the Vatican's diplomatic service, in which he served for most of his career.
