Apes Of Wrath
''Apes of Wrath'' is a 1959 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' animated short directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on April 18, 1959, and stars Bugs Bunny. This cartoon recycles the plot from the 1948 cartoon ''Gorilla My Dreams''. The title is a parody of John Steinbeck's novel ''The Grapes of Wrath''. This cartoon was featured in '' Bugs Bunny's 3rd Movie: 1001 Rabbit Tales'', but with a few slight changes, since the plot features Bugs and Daffy trying to sell books. Plot The cartoon opens with the drunk stork talking to himself in the woods about how everyone is always glad to see the stork and offering him drinks to celebrate the new baby, of which he can't refuse (not for obvious lack of trying.) Unbeknownst, the gorilla baby he is supposed to deliver walks out of his bag. The stork is shocked to find that he has no baby to deliver. Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), and Speedy Gonzales. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, Freleng directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio (a total of 266), and is also the most honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. 1001 Rabbit Tales
''Bugs Bunny's 3rd Movie: 1001 Rabbit Tales'' is a 1982 animated anthology comedy film directed by Friz Freleng with a compilation of Warner Bros. cartoon shorts (many of which have been abridged) and animated bridging sequences with Bugs Bunny as the story host. Plot Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck have to sell books for Rambling House. They go their separate ways and experience many wacky things. For instance, while flying through a winter storm, Daffy runs into a house owned by Porky Pig and briefly stays there while taking place of a stuffed duck which he merely destroyed. Meanwhile, Bugs burrows his way to a jungle where he pretends to be a baby ape to an ape couple. One half of the couple wants to do Bugs in, but manages to divert him after he accidentally drops a boulder on his wife's head. Daffy Duck is an animated cartoon fictional character, character created for Warner Bros. Cartoons, Leon Schlesinger Productions by animators Tex Avery and Bob Clampett. Tweety is a yellow canary in the Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' series of animated cartoons. The name "Tweety" is a play on words, as it originally meant "sweetie", along with "tweet" being an English onomatopoeia for the sounds of birds. His characteristics are based on Red Skelton's famous "Junior the Mean Widdle Kid." He appeared in 46 cartoons during the golden age, made between 1942 and 1964.
