Aodh Ruadh CLG
Aodh Ruadh CLG are a GAA club based in the town of Ballyshannon in County Donegal. Historically one of their county's most successful GAA clubs, they have won 12 Donegal Senior Football Championships, they currently compete in Division 1 of the league and the Senior Championship. The club colours are green and white and they play their home games at Fr Tierney Park. History Aodh Ruadh was founded in 1909 as a football and hurling club. Fr Tierney Park opened officially in 1954. Jim "Natch" Gallagher was mentor to Donegal's 1972 and 1974 Ulster Senior Football Championship-winning teams. With Bundoran, Aodh Ruadh formed one half of the St Joseph's team that won seven County Championships and an Ulster Club Championship—the only Donegal team to achieve this feat until Gaoth Dobhair in 2018. Ballyshannon
Ballyshannon () is a town in County Donegal, Ireland. It is located at the southern end of the county where the N3 from Dublin ends and the N15 crosses the River Erne. Incorporated in 1613, it is one of the oldest towns in Ireland. Location Ballyshannon, which means "the mouth of Seannach's ford", after a fifth-century warrior, Seannach, who was slain there, lies at the mouth of the river Erne. Just west of the town, the Erne widens and its waters meander over a long sandy estuary. The northern bank of the river rises steeply away from the riverbank, while the southern bank is flat with a small cliff that runs parallel to the river. Brian Roper (Gaelic Footballer)
Brian Roper (born 1974/5) is an American Gaelic footballer who has lived in Ireland most of his life, and who played for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. Roper preferred to play centre-forward, but tended to play at wing-forward for Donegal. Brian McEniff described him as one of the best forwards in the country for the best part of a decade and a half. He won an Ulster Under-21 Football Championship. However, he never won the Ulster Senior Football Championship during his career. Early life His family own a monumental masonry firm. His father P. Brian Murray (Gaelic Footballer)
Brian Murray (born 1963/4) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for clubs in Donegal, Dublin and Kildare, as well as for the Donegal county team. He is from Ballyshannon. In April 1980, he scored a goal at Croke Park as his secondary school De La Salle College Ballyshannon, defeated Leinster champions St Mary's CBS, Portlaoise, by 2–10 to 1–6 to win the All-Ireland Colleges B title. In November 1988, Pat Spillane passed the ball to Murray; Murray promptly scored a goal to defeat The Kingdom in their own county. Murray played against Armagh and scored a point in the 1990 Ulster final, won by Donegal. He was a member of Donegal's 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winning team. Sylvester Maguire
Sylvester Maguire (born 1960s) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. He won the 1982 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship with Donegal. He fell out with senior county manager Tom Conaghan during the 1980s. Brian McEniff restored him to the panel in time for the 1990 Ulster Senior Football Championship, which Donegal won. He was a panellist on the day of the 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final but did not play. Pauric McShea
Pauric McShea is an Irish Gaelic football pundit and former player for Aodh Ruadh and the Donegal county team. He works as a match analyst for Ocean FM. He also writes a weekly column, "McShea's Say", for the ''Donegal Post''. He played at full-back. He had a high-scoring game against Armagh in the 1967 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. He was part of the final team as Donegal won the 1972 Ulster Senior Football Championship. Then he captained Donegal to the 1974 Ulster Senior Football Championship. His mother is from County Tyrone. Close to Brian McEniff, McShea was part of the backroom team in 1992.
