Anything (Third Eye Blind Song)
"Anything" is a song by American rock band Third Eye Blind from their second studio album, ''Blue'' (1999). It was released to radio as the lead single from the album on November 2, 1999, by Elektra Records. Background Frontman Stephan Jenkins is credited as the sole writer of the song, whilst production was collectively helmed by Jenkins, the Mud Sisters, Arion Salazar, and Third Eye Blind. The song peaked at number 11 on the ''Billboard'' Modern Rock chart and number 35 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Upon release, reviews were mostly positive. Jason Carmer stated during a discussion that Jenkins was adamant about "Anything" being the lead single despite its length, and that the radio edit (which was included on the single release) was created at Elektra's request. It is the only single released from the first three studio albums that did not appear on the band's greatest hits compilation album '' A Collection''. Third Eye Blind
Third Eye Blind is an American rock band formed in San Francisco, California, in 1993. After years of lineup changes in the early and mid-1990s, the songwriting duo of Stephan Jenkins and Kevin Cadogan signed the band's first major-label recording contract with Elektra Records in 1996. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1997, with the band largely consisting of Jenkins (vocals, rhythm guitar), Cadogan (lead guitar), Arion Salazar (bass guitar), and Brad Hargreaves (drums). Shortly after the release of the band's second album in 1999, ''Blue'', with the same line-up, Cadogan was released from the band under controversial circumstances. The band continued, but with many line-up changes and long gaps between album releases for the next 15 years. The band released '' Out of the Vein'' in 2003 and ''Ursa Major'' in 2009 with guitarist Tony Fredianelli, but parted ways with him shortly afterwards, leaving only Jenkins and Hargreaves as the remaining core members. It started as an independent trade from 1973 to 2006 until VNU Media took over in 2006 and became a relaunched sister trade to '' Billboard'', until its final issue in 2009. Active rock is a radio format used by many commercial radio stations across the United States and Canada. Active rock stations play a balance of new hard rock songs with valued classic rock favorites, normally with an emphasis on the harder edge of mainstream rock and album-oriented rock. Mainstream rock (also known as heritage rock) is a radio format used by many commercial radio stations in the United States and Canada. Format background Mainstream rock stations represent the middle ground between classic rock and active rock on the programming spectrum, in that they play more classic rock songs from the 1970s and 1980s and fewer songs from emerging acts than active rock stations, and only rarely play songs on the softer edge of the classic rock format. They program a balanced airplay of tracks found on active rock and classic rock playlists, but the music playlist tends to focus on charting hard rock music from the 1970s through the 2000s. The Maritime Hall is a historic 3,000-capacity Auditorium, concert hall in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood that operated from 1995 through 2001 as a popular music venue and nightclub. It was located at 450 Harrison Street (at First Street) at the Sailors Union of the Pacific building.
