Anwarul Momen SBP, OSP, rcds, psc was a two star rank Bangladesh Army officer. His last appointment was Senior Directing Staff (Army-1) at National Defence College. Career Maj Gen Momen was commissioned with 12th BMA long course from Bangladesh Military Academy in 1985. Momen previously commanded a composite brigade. He was the Military Secretary to Army Headquarters. He was the GOC of 17th Infantry Division & area commander of Sylhet Area. He commanded a raid on militant den in Sylhet on 25 March 2017 named Operation Twilight. Bangladesh Army
The Bangladesh Army is the land warfare branch and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. An officer of two-star rank is a senior commander in many of the armed services holding a rank described by the NATO code of OF-7. 17th Infantry Division (Bangladesh)
The 17th Infantry Division is a formation of the Bangladesh Army. It was formed as part of the development vision of Bangladesh Armed Forces Forces Goal 2030. It is located in Sylhet Division. History The division was officially formed on 17 September 2013 according to Forces Goal-2030 . Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally announced the raising of the division by hoisting the divisional flag at Jalalabad Cantonment. Sylhet Division
Sylhet Division ( bn, সিলেট বিভাগ) is the northeastern division of Bangladesh. It is bordered by the Indian states of Meghalaya, Assam and Tripura to the north, east and south respectively, and by the Bangladeshi divisions of Chittagong to the southwest and Dhaka and Mymensingh to the west. Prior to 1947, it included the subdivision of Karimganj (presently in Barak Valley, India). However, Karimganj (including the thanas of Badarpur, Patharkandi and Ratabari) was inexplicably severed from Sylhet by the Radcliffe Boundary Commission. According to Niharranjan Ray, it was partly due to a plea from a delegation led by Abdul Matlib Mazumdar. Etymology and names The name ''Sylhet'' is an anglicisation of ''Shilhot'' (শিলহট). Operation Twilight (Bangladesh)
Operation Twilight was a British record label, the UK branch of Belgian label Les Disques du Crépuscule. It was run by Patrick Moore, who now writes as Philip Hoare. Moore was working for Rough Trade Records at the time, and described the genesis of Operation Twilight thus: "Geoff Travis 'Rough Trade''and Michel Duval 'Crépuscule''cooked up a plan in January 1982 where I would start up the UK equivalent of Les Disques du Crépuscule. Michel had a sort of James Bond idea about it — it would be the James Bond version of Crépuscule — Operation Twilight." Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) is the officers training institute for the officer cadets of Bangladesh Army. It is located in Bhatiary, near Chittagong Hill Tracts, in the Chittagong District of south-east Bangladesh, about 13 kilometres north of Chittagong. The academy is situated on the slopes of the Sitakunda hill ranges and the shore of the Bay of Bengal. History Following the independence of Bangladesh with the break-up of Pakistan in the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, Bangladesh Military Academy was established in January 1974 for training the officers of the Army.
