Anwar Parvez
Anwar Parvez (September 2, 1942 – June 17, 2006) was a Bangladeshi music composer and music director. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2007 by the Government of Bangladesh. He composed about 2,000 songs and worked as a music director in about 200 feature films. Background Singer Shahnaz Rahmatullah and actor Zafar Iqbal were Parvez's siblings. Ekushey Padak
Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019. Shahnaz Rahmatullah
Shahnaz Rahmatullah (; 2 January 1952 – 23 March 2019) was a Bangladeshi singer. Her notable songs are ''Ekbar Jete De Na Amar Chotto Sonar Gaye'', ''Je Chilo Drishtir Shimanay'' and ''Ek Tara Tui Desher Kotha''. She was the recipient of the Ekushey Padak in 1992 and Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film ''Chhutir Phande'' (1990). Background Rahmatullah was born on 2 January 1952 as Shahnaz Begum in Dhaka to M Fazlul Haq and Asiya Haq. Actor Zafar Iqbal and music director Anwar Parvez were Rahmatullah's brothers. She got trained by ghazal maestro Mehedi Hassan, Ustad Phul Mohammad, Ustad Munir Hossain and Altaf Mahmud. Rahmatullah was married to Maj (retd) Abul Bashar Rahmatullah. Zafar Iqbal (actor)
Zafar Iqbal (born 25 September 1950 or 25 April 1950 – died 6 January 1991 or 1992) was a Bangladeshi actor, singer and freedom fighter. He acted in 150 films. Singer Shahnaz Rahmatullah and music composer Anwar Pervez (musician), Anwar Parvez were his siblings. Background Iqbal learned to play guitar in the 1970s. He formed his own band ''Rambling Stone'' in 1966 with two of his friends named Mukit & Akash. The band used to perform regularly at the hotel InterContinental Dhaka. Music director Robin Ghosh hired him as a session guitarist for his upcoming film ''Pitch Dhala Poth''. During one of those shows, director Khan Ataur Rahman met Iqbal and offered him work as an actor in a lead role for the film ''Apan Por ''. Joy Bangla ( bn, জয় বাংলা) is a slogan and war cry used in Bangladesh and India's West Bengal, Tripura, Barak Valley and Manbhum District to indicate nationalism towards the geopolitical, cultural and historical region of Bengal and Bangamata (also known as Bangla Maa or Mother Bengal). It is also recognised as the national slogan of Bangladesh. It translates roughly to "Victory to Bengal" or "Hail Bengal".
